The two Liaison Officers assigned to the murder investigation of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were known to the British Police hierarchy as Paedophiles at least 3 months prior to the investigation, due to Operation Ore.

According to media reports, the names of 2 former Labour Cabinet Ministers said to be `Household names` appear on the `Operation Ore ` list of subscribers to hard-core child pornography. The same FBI investigation, which led to the arrest of rock star Pete Townshend. So who are they Mr Gordon Brown?

BUT I think we can work that one out for ourselves……see post

What not to look forward to on Valentine’s Day

Today is ‘International Puzzle Day’ (yes I try to do a jigsaw and a wordsearch at least, every day) but here’s a good puzzle – why do people find vampires appealing? Physical, emotional and psychic?

Here’s an example of a very common type of human vampire that the media have always pedaled as attractive (much like Rhett Butler’s rape of his wife and her apparently liking it the next day in one of the most popular films of all time, ‘Golden Hollywood”s Gone with the Wind (1939) – and yes it was ‘legal’ to rape your wife in the UK up until 25 years ago and still is in many parts of the world – and the gang rape in Saturday Night Fever (1997)) and people just eat it up. Buying into this just keeps the abuse going.

Apparently the first book was so badly written it was a wonder as to why it became a bestseller and neither the book/film did anything for connoisseurs of S&M actually annoying and insulting many and yes even anti-feminists agreed. So why the follow-up and why on V-Day? What type of gift is that? “Me caveman, you woman, here come and let me beat you then rape you and make you say you wanted it.” Yeah… No thanks, and die while you’re at it.

And Fifty Shades Darker? Excuse me, darker? Who would fall for that ‘man’ unless under hypnotism/coercion? How is it romantic to watch this? At least in Pretty Woman (1990) (a film I didn’t like and couldn’t see the point in its popularity other that it was a typical boy/girl from different sides meet story) they showed that prostitutes get raped and are human with interests/hobbies instead of glamorizing it. Sidenote – Julia Roberts has done a lot of great feminist films, one in this category being Sleeping with the Enemy (1991).

My comment: See how they’ve made her look sultry instead of manipulated?

The #FiftyShadesIsAbuse campaign is a global campaign led by London Abused Women’s Centre, Canada, Collective Shout, Australia, and Culture Reframed and The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) and joined by many other groups around the world.

Hollywood is portraying the Fifty Shades trilogy as a risqué, passionate romance. The second film in the Fifty Shades franchise, Fifty Shades Darker, is set to be released on Valentine’s Day. But is this a love story?

Christian Grey, the male lead, exhibits the traits of an abuser through possessive, manipulative, and coercive behaviors, including frequent stalking. Having introduced a younger, inexperienced college girl to the world of sadomasochistic sexual abuse in the first film, in 50 Shades Darker Christian becomes obsessed with his latest sexual submissive and proposes marriage.

As in the first film, Anastasia Steele, his “lover,” is consistently isolated, threatened, and manipulated, yet she comes back to Christian and agrees to marry him because she thinks her love can change him. As the story progresses, Ana, who was first fearful and disturbed by Christian’s dark and violent sexual practices, gradually comes to desire rough sex.

The 50 Shades series is permeated with graphic scenes of sex and sexual abuse. Its lead male character exhibits classic hallmarks of an abuser, and yet Hollywood is portraying his relationship with Ana as a sexually titillating Cinderella story.

This movie, and the entire Fifty Shades franchise, glamorizes and legitimizes both sexual and domestic abuse. In real life, women in these situations don’t end up like Anastasia—they end up in a woman’s recovery agency, on the run from their abuser or, sometimes, dead.

Help take a stand against the normalization of abusive relationships and join our Thunderclap to schedule the social media post, “It’s time for Hollywood to stop sending the message that domestic abuse is sexy. #FiftyShadesIsAbuse” and visit FiftyShadesIsAbuse.com to find additional ways to get involved.

You can also donate $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford to help the women experiencing the real-life version of Christian and Ana’s abusive relationship. Donations can be made to any domestic violence agency in your area – share that you made a donation online with the hashtag #50DollarsNot50Shades so we can help promote it!

If you are in the United States you can find a list of women’s recovery agencies at DomesticShelters.org. There is even a “wish list” of specific items for which these organizations have need.

A trilogy of this rubbish? A Cinderella story? I’m not one for fairytales let alone their programming (and ‘loving’ psychotic handlers, waiting for princes and vampires are part of human culture/legend/history so Fifty Shades pays tribute to that) but I prefer modern takes on them like Brave (2012) and Malificent (2014) (sans Disney who were/are very much part of the problem and they’re begging the re-surging/upcoming Dark Mother planetary re-consciousness for forgiveness whilst acting innocent with Brave and Malificent).

And here are the ‘new’ vampires:

Today is [Inter]National Hug Day – These Women and More Need All the Support Possible.

An acid attack is predominantly carried out by a man to a woman, usually after he has been rejected/upset in some way; they are common in South Asia (Pakistan, India and Bangladesh) and other parts of the world but the epidemic has been spreading with occurrences in Europe and the perpetrators and victims aren’t always Black/Asian (for the racists out there who think they are). Both a horrific thing to go through and leaves you scarred for life, survivors everywhere are trying their best and need all the support they can get from legal action, support groups, integration back into society to feeling good about themselves again and knowing they’re beautiful e.g. make-up for burns victims.

Despite stricter laws and punishments, the number of acid attacks in India continues to increase. DW examines the reasons behind it and the measures needed to prevent acid violence in the South Asian nation.

Why acid attacks are on the rise in India

Despite stricter laws and punishments, the number of acid attacks in India continues to increase. DW examines the reasons behind it and the measures needed to prevent acid violence in the South Asian nation.

Acid Attack Victim Pragya Prasun After Her Wedding By Male Relative

Acid Attack Victim Pragya Prasun After Her Wedding By Male Relative

Pragya Prasun was on her way from the Hindu holy city of Varanasi to the capital New Delhi days after her wedding, when a distant male relative poured acid on her.

“I initially didn’t realize what was happening. My skin was burning, fumes were coming off it, and it smelled as though a tire was burning on my body,” recalls Prashun, who was only 22-years old at that time.

The relative attacked her with acid because she had rejected his marriage proposal.

Ten years have passed since the assault, which burned 47 percent of her body.
Still, Prasun remains thankful to a doctor who was traveling in the same train as her on the night of the attack. The doctor, she says, saved her life that night.

“She instantly recognized it as acid and requested everyone in the train to put as much as water as possible on me so that the acid gets washed off,” Prasun told DW, adding: “she gave me her scarf to cover my body as my clothes were burned along with my skin.”

Attacks on the rise

Prasun knows the pain that every acid victim goes through in India, where receiving proper medical treatment remains a huge challenge for the victims.

”There are very limited specialized burn hospitals in India and these hospitals are always flooded with burn patients. For that reason, getting admitted to an affordable government hospital is almost impossible for an acid victim,” Prasun said, pointing out that ”the wounds take nearly four to five months to get healed.”

Statistics show a clear increase in the number of acid attacks in the South Asian country in recent years. At least 106 such attacks were reported in 2012, according to the Acid Survivors Foundation India (ASFI). And that figure rose to 122 in 2013 and 349 in 2014. Activists say that figure climbed to over 500 in 2015.

However, Prasun disputes the figure, arguing that many cases remain unreported. She estimates that around 1,000 acid attacks take place in India every year.

There are many unreported cases of acid attacks where victims die, especially in rural areas. Sometimes people try to hide information if the attacker was the husband or a family member of the victim,” said Prasun, who runs Atijeevan Foundation, an organization that rehabilitates acid attack survivors in the southern city of Bangalore.

The majority of acid attack victims are women, reveals a report commissioned by the Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) and published last year.

The victims are attacked over domestic or land disputes, a rejected marriage proposal or spurned sexual advances, according to the report.

Farida from Bangladesh. Acid Attack Victim Violence Domestic Abuse

Farida from Bangladesh.
Farida’s husband was addicted to drugs and gambling. He lost so much money that he had to sell their house. She threatened to leave him. That night, while she was sleeping, he poured acid over her and locked the bedroom door. Farida cried and screamed so loud that neighbors came to her rescue, breaking the door open. – More stories and images on the website’s slideshow.

Network for acid attack survivors

Alok Dixit, the founder of the Stop Acid Attacks (SAA) campaign based in New Delhi, agrees with the report’s findings over the reasons for these attacks. He has established a cafe in the northern city of Agra that is run by acid attack survivors. [My Comment: I agree with Monica Singh in the article below – I’m not keen on cafes for acid attack survivors (remember it’s a fatal attack) where technically they’re in servitude though they themselves and Alok don’t see/describe it that way as it’s a safe place for them to be and feel supported/happy. I think it’s better that they have the option to both feel support from people who’ve been through the same thing whilst not put on display and to mingle in society normally if they want e.g. getting normal jobs. I still respect and very much see the good in this campaign though.]

“We created a network of acid attack survivors in India. Our aim is to make them leaders. It’s not like we represent them, it’s more like they themselves take care of their cause and fight for their rights,” Dixit told DW.

As the cafe in Agra has created a positive impact on the survivors, he opened another cafe in Lucknow recently, and planning to set up two more cafes – one in Udaipur and another in New Delhi – soon. Acid attack survivors will run those new cafes as well, he confirms.

The SAA campaign has been using social media to raise awareness of acid violence since 2013. The campaign was given DW’s “The Bobs – Best of Online Activism”.

“We focus more on social change because we believe only laws can’t stop these crimes. Because these offenses are passion crimes and most of the times family members or colleagues or friends of the victims are involved. It happens out of passion. We need to stop that via social awareness,” Dixit stressed.

His online campaign has grabbed huge attention in India. He collects donations via crowdfunding and his latest request for funding for the surgery of an acid victim met the target immediately after it was posted online.

“People started talking about acid violence in 2013, and very soon we got better laws, better rules and there are better facilities for survivors,” said Dixit. “But even though change is happening in society, it will take a long time to notice it in as big a country as India.”

More needs to be done

But Megha Mishra, a spokesperson for the ASFI, says the Indian government needs to do much more to end acid attacks in the country.

“The very first thing the government has to do is to ban the sale of acid in the retail market. Second, it has to get very serious about punishing the perpetrators. Third, it has to ensure proper medical treatment for the survivors as they still need to fight to get medical support,” Mishra told DW.

In 2013, the Supreme Court of India ordered the government to limit over-the-counter acid sales to people over 18. But Prasun criticizes the authorities, arguing that they have failed to implement the rules governing the sale of acid in the country.

This, in turn, has resulted in acid continuing to remain available everywhere at a very low price, she said. “I demand a complete ban on acid. It is not a commodity which should be available in the retail market. Acid only harms and it has destroyed so many lives in our country.”

Comic-book superheroine to spotlight India’s acid-attack menace

http://www.dw.com/en/comic-book-superheroine-to-spotlight-indias-acid-attack-menace/a-36141976

A new comic aims to draw attention to the problem of acid attacks, which disfigure and maim hundreds of women in India every year. The survivors face intense emotional and physical trauma as well as acute ostracism.

Monica Singh author of Priya's Shakti superheroine gang rape acid attack

“Life is too precious to cry,” says Monica Singh. And she simply refuses to see it differently. “I do not insult life by crying about my past over and over again. I am alive and that’s what matters.”

When the young woman looks at her in the mirror today, she sees a different person than the one several years ago. That’s not only due to the fact that she has become older, but also because she now has a new face.

A scarred face that tells what happened to her on this one dark day in her life in the year 2005. When a jilted suitor hurled acid on her in full public glare, causing major burns all over her body. It totally upended her life.
The then 19-year-old Singh, hailing from Delhi, had hitherto been full of dreams and aspirations. She says it will be impossible for her to erase the moment of the acid attack from her memory.

“It’s an unforgettable moment in any girl’s life. Feeling burnt like we never experienced before, yelling for help in middle of the street, all the people witnessing what was going on, being eye witnesses to a live horror show. Horrible. I don’t want to say anything more about it.”

Singh says the perpetrator used to stalk her, pressuring her to marry him and leave her family and education behind.
But when she spurned his advances, he turned furious and attacked her with acid.

In the subsequent years, Monica Singh has been repeatedly hospitalized and undergone numerous surgeries, totaling almost 50. She has received support from her family, particularly her father. Singh’s friends have also been as supportive as they can.

The 30-year old now lives in New York, where she is studying fashion marketing. Furthermore, she has founded her own foundation and regularly appears as a motivational speaker.

‘Cultural stigmas’

In the spring of 2016, Monica Singh met filmmaker and producer Ram Devineni when she gave a speech at the United Nations. A few months earlier, Devineni had already met two other survivors of acid attacks. The director was impressed by their strength, and at the same time he was angry.

“What I discovered after talking with them is that they faced the same cultural stigmas and reactions from society that rape survivors had to endure,” Devineni noted.

“How society treated them intensified the problem and their recovery. How they were treated by their family, neighbors and society determined what they did next. Often they were treated like the villains and the blame was put on them,” he added.

Devineni wanted to change this, by raising public awareness about the problem. And to that end, he decided to use a comic, named “Priya’s Mirror,” which was officially presented over the weekend.

In the comic, a group of acid victims fights alongside the female superheroine Priya, a character that helps acid-attack survivors to overcome their fears and escape the tyranny of a demon king. A story ripe with symbolism.

In fact, the character of Priya started with a prequel, called “Priya’s Shakti,” which tells the story of a gang-rape victim who would later gain strength to fight sex crimes. [My comment: Empowering story for a comic and great for what it is but for the living I wish you didn’t have be a victim first, everyone should be fighting against this regardless.]

“Priya is India’s first female superheroine and a survivor of rape. [My comment: AFTER ALL THIS GODDAMNED TIME IN A COUNTRY FILLED WITH GODS AND TONS OF THEM FEMALES AND WARRIOR FEMALES AT THAT – WHY ARE THE GODS/GODDESSES AND MEN TREATED WITH RESPECT AND NOT THE WOMEN!?] She was created after the 2012 gang rape on a bus. [My comment: As you can see from these articles these criminals don’t care about carrying out attacks in public even.] Her mission is to attack patriarchy and create empathy for rape survivors and survivors of gender-based violence,” said Devineni. Priya fights against India’s prevailing patriarchal social norms that encourage discrimination against women.

With over half a million downloads, “Priya’s Shakti” has been an international success, underlined the director. “The main character, Priya, resonated with audiences and was written about in 400 news publications reaching nearly 20 million readers.”

An educational tool

“Priya’s Mirror” is the first comic to have received financial assistance from the World Bank. It is freely available for download on various platforms and in different languages, including Hindi, English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

And it’s expected to be released in other languages as well.

The producers hope it could be particularly useful for educating teenagers and young men about gender rights and respect for women. “Teenagers are at a critical age when they are learning about relationships and developing their opinions of each other. So, this comic book series is a powerful tool to talk about gender issues,” stressed Devineni.

The comic is released together with an app, which offers a possibility to create profile pictures for social networks such as Facebook or WhatsApp resembling the faces of acid-attack victims. The intention behind this is to raise awareness and stimulate public discourse about the issue.

Around 1,500 girls and women across the world become victims of acid attacks annually, according to aid organizations such as Acid Surivors Trust International (ASTI). The real figure could be even higher. “Often, acid-attack survivors do not tell others that they were attacked with acid because of the stigma attached to it. Rather they say they were burned in a cooking fire or something else,” pointed out Devineni. [My comment – like they walked into a f*ckin’ door, fell down the stairs or something when a man/men in their lives beats then.] But others – like Monica Singh – do the opposite.

Devineni: ‘What I discovered after talking with them is that they faced the same cultural stigmas and reactions from society that rape survivors had to endure’

A tough task

“I never hide myself, but I definitely understand the feeling of being inhibited, the fear of being viewed as an abnormal person in society,” said Monica Singh. She decided to face off the situation: “I have never allowed myself to be labeled as an ‘unfortunate girl,'” she noted. That’s why, perhaps, Monica Singh is among the few women whose faces feature on the cover of the comic “Priya’s Mirror.”

They were drawn by artist Dan Goldman – not an easy task for him. “Creating the artwork required a delicate hand for my part: I didn’t want to render the acid victims’ scars in any kind of exploitative way, but at the same time, it was essential to show the degree of scarring endured, otherwise the issue we’re addressing loses it impact,” Goldman said, adding: “I struggled with this for some time…”

The artist ultimately found a way out of his dilemma. “I found out that the style was in rendering the women as normal as possible and then adding their scars last. This way, I was able to make them feel whole and give them a kind of poetry as women, rather than addressing the scars first and people second.

“I did send my drawings to them before the book was published to make sure they were comfortable with how I was portraying them and was happy to take any kind of notes from them,” he explained.

“It’s already a very sensitive issue centered on their appearance and violence, and therefore the last thing I’d want to do is portray them in a way that made them unhappy or upset,” he added.

Monica Singh, however, is very content with the response for their work. “Everyone loves this book; we just need references of real-life heroines for girls and young women. And projecting ourselves the way we are is more valuable and impactful.”

Not ‘a victim’

Singh has always remained true to herself, both in the old as well as in the new life. She’s got a different face, but she’s still Monica – the one that will always stand her ground. “My parents say that I have always had this never give up attitude.”

She explains that for acid-attack survivors like her, it’s extremely important that they accept themselves for who they are. If they fail to do it, there wouldn’t be any progress in their lives, she said. Singh adamantly refuses to regard herself as a victim.

“I don’t see the word victim as an accurate description of me. I am a self-confident, educated and strong woman who left her home for a mission in her life, and now she is on her journey… I am more than a survivor,” she said, stressing that: “I am a motivational speaker, fashion designer, stylist, marketing expert, philanthropist and a model, among other things.”

I even walked the runway at New York fashion week, she pointed out.

When asked if she’s happy with her life, she said: “I won’t say I am a happy person, but I am definitely a very funny person. I did learn how to deal with the situation. I know my strength is my confidence and education. If a person has a good heart and knowledge, I believe everyone finds that person beautiful.”

Acid attack injures three girls waiting for bus in India just days after landmark death sentence verdict

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-09-13/indian-girls-injured-in-acid-attack-waiting-for-bus/7837536

Posted 12 Sep 2016, 9:25pm

Three girls in eastern India are being treated in hospital after acid was thrown on them, just days after a court handed down a landmark death sentence verdict to a man found guilty of murdering a nurse in an acid attack.

The teenage girls were attacked late on Sunday (local time) in West Bengal’s Bankura district, as they were returning home from tuition classes and were waiting near a bus stand.

Deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi said they were taken by three men in a car where they were attacked and acid thrown on them.

The three men have been arrested, he said, adding that the victims were now recovering in hospital.

“A Bolero vehicle [a four-wheel drive] and three persons have been arrested — a driver and two other persons — and cases have been registered against them,” Mr Bhoi told Asian News International (ANI).

Acid attacks — meant to maim, disfigure or blind — occur in many countries.

They are most common in Cambodia, as well as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.

Most victims are women, injured and disfigured by jilted partners or relatives.

Previously classified under grievous harm, acid attacks became a specific offence in India in 2013 after public pressure forced the Government to improve laws to protect women following the fatal gang rape of a young woman on a New Delhi bus in 2012.

According to India’s home ministry, there were 222 cases reported in 2015 compared to 309 the previous year.
Activists say the number is under-reported as many do not report cases for fear the perpetrators will seek revenge.

Landmark death sentence for fatal acid attack

On Thursday, a man in the city of Mumbai was sentenced to death for a fatal acid attack on a nurse at a busy railway station three years ago in what is seen as a legal landmark.

Preeti Rathi, who was 23 when she was murdered, had just arrived from Delhi to join the Indian navy as a nurse.

Her neighbour Ankur Panwar attacked her after she rejected a marriage proposal.

It was the first such sentence for an acid attack in India.

While certainty of justice and punishment is crucial, regulating the sale of acid is also essential, campaigners said.

“It is shocking that despite the Supreme Court guidelines, acid is so easily available to people like those who did this to these girls,” lawyer and women’s rights activist Abha Singh told reporters.

“The Supreme Court has given very clear guidelines that you cannot easily sell acid over the counter and is it the responsibility of local authorities to do surprise checks to see if acid is being sold illegally.”

India’s top court in 2013 ordered the Government to curb the sale of acid to control attacks on women.

It made it mandatory for anyone wishing to buy the chemical, which is cheap and used as an everyday household cleaning product, to be over 18 years of age and have an identity card.

Remember like other attacks – particularly sexually and family related – not all are reported or even dealt with properly (fairly and considerately to the victim) when they are.

Indian acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi walks the New York runway

Reshma Quereshi Acid Attack Survivor Fashion Runway Strong Message Victims

Reshma Qureshi, a 19-year-old acid attack survivor and campaigner for the #EndAcidSale movement, walks the runway at New York Fashion Week in what she calls a life-changing experience. Reshma Quereshi hopes to send a powerful message to other survivors.

Since Ms Qureshi was attacked by her brother-in-law in 2014, pinned down by his friends and her face doused in acid, she has become the face of a campaign to end the open sale of acid in India.

Ms Qureshi was invited to take part in Fashion Week by FTL Moda, a fashion production company committed to challenging industry stereotypes of beauty and which last year invited Australian model Madeline Stuart, who has Down Syndrome, to take part.

Ms Qureshi brushed off nerves to stride the runway like a pro in a cream and floral floor-length gown by Indian designer Archana Kochhar on Thursday, the first official day of New York Fashion Week.

“I feel really good and the experience was great,” she said afterwards, speaking in Hindi through a translator.

“I feel as though it has definitely changed my life.”

Ms Qureshi, whose ambition remains to finish the last two grades of high school and attend college, said she hoped her participation would send a powerful message to other acid attack survivors.

“Why should we not enjoy our lives? What happened to us is not our fault and we’ve done nothing wrong and so we should also move forward in life,” she said.

“I want to tell the world — do not see us in a weak light and see that even we can go out and do things.

“People have a tendency to look at acid attack survivors from one perspective and I don’t want them to look at them like that anymore … I do feel brave.”

Acid attacks, which overwhelmingly target women and children, are a particular scourge in South-East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, the West Indies and the Middle East.

In India, an estimated 500 to 1,000 attacks take place each year, and while they rarely kill they leave severe physical, psychological and social scars that can see victims ostracised and hidden away.

Ms Qureshi’s appearance at Fashion Week came the same day an Indian court sentenced a man to death for murdering a 24-year-old woman by throwing acid on her face after she rejected his offer of marriage, in a landmark judgement.

‘Every day, a girl becomes a victim of an acid attack’

Ms Qureshi appears in YouTube videos for Make Love Not Scars, a charity that aims “to raise awareness for acid attack survivors and empower them to live life with dignity”.

The videos, filmed in her home base of Mumbai, offer make-up advice and beauty tips and discuss crimes against women.

Last year, Ms Qureshi’s “perfect red lips” tutorial went viral — a video which ends with Ms Qureshi saying: “You’ll
easily find a red lipstick in the market, just like concentrated acid.

“This is the reason why, every day, a girl becomes a victim of an acid attack.”

[My comment: There’s too much false empowerment in the world where women give men what they want when in the past and less ‘modern’ countries women are still forced into. Far too much superficial and inappropriate flaunting labelled as ‘role models’ acting like ‘perfect women’ and normalized soft porn (when really they’re fodder for misogynists and idiots who label feminists ‘femi-nazis’) yet there are real women and children like Reshma, those like her and those supporting are doing their best to survive their ordeals and prevent others from happening. Don’t undermine their experience to be a celebrity, celebrity wannabe or follower.]

I agree with the death penalty for acid attacks, disfigurement, rape and torture. Don’t blame the victims.

Mr Devineni says the comic, which uses augmented reality technology, is aimed at teenage boys.
“It’s a perfect way to educate them on issues of gender violence, to tell them how devastating this liquid weapon is.”

In the book, Priya (which means love) rides on the back of her ferocious tiger Sahas (courage) into “The Castle” to confront the villainous Ahankar (Ego or Arrogance), a demon disguised as a benevolent man, and liberate the acid attack victims who are trapped there.

Paromita Vohra, who co-authored Priya’s Mirror with Mr Devineni, says Priya’s weapon is rather unusual. Called the “mirror of love” Priya encourages the women to peek into it and look beyond their scars, to see what they were once, like singers, carpenters and painters.

Having spent time in South America and Brazil, Mr Goldman says he was aware of the problem of acid attacks, but found the scale “very very shocking”.

“I knew it happened a lot, especially in Colombia. But I didn’t realise it was so unbelievably prevalent.”

Still Smiling – The women fighting back after acid attacks

Acid burns the skin and eats the flesh – acid attacks can blind and maim and leave a person’s face unrecognisable.
In India it’s estimated that there are 1,000 such attacks per year, maybe more.

But in the shadow of the Taj Mahal a group of strong women, all survivors, have come together to run a cafe and tell their stories to the world.

Dolly

Dolly Acid Attack Victim Survivor Sheroes

A young waitress stands in the doorway of Sheroes cafe in Agra. “Welcome to our little cafe,” she says above the rumble of the rush hour traffic.

Her name is Dolly and she is 15 years old.

“I’m the youngest here and the naughtiest,” she says, and then laughs – it is impossible not to join in.

A few customers arrive for a quick cup of masala chai. Agra is submerged in a dense winter fog, so the cafe’s colourful murals offer some morning cheer. Dolly takes an order and heads off to the kitchen, flashing another broad grin.

Three years ago someone tried to destroy that winning smile. He didn’t succeed but there is no ignoring the thick scar tissue which snakes across most of Dolly’s face.

The trouble began when a man from the same neighbourhood – twice Dolly’s age – wouldn’t leave her alone. He started stalking the 12-year-old schoolgirl, making lewd remarks and suggesting they should sleep together.

Then one day he suddenly turned up at her house while she was playing with other children.

“I ran away towards my room but he threw acid on my face. It started to burn and I screamed and shouted.”

Dolly’s family immediately doused the raw flesh of her face with water and she was rushed to hospital. Thanks to the quick thinking of a doctor, her eyes were washed out and her sight was saved.

Even so, Dolly is now permanently scarred and she still has trouble breathing because of the damage to her nostrils. She recalls the moment she asked to look in a mirror after returning home from the hospital.

“My mother refused and told me I was still beautiful. She said I could look in the mirror later. Then my little sister accidentally put a mirror in front of me and I saw it. I cried and howled and screamed.”

Dolly didn’t want to eat or leave the house. “I even thought it would have been better if I had died,” she says.

Her gut instinct was that she should cover her face with a veil. For a year, she would ignore the gentle encouragement from her mother to try venturing outside the house.

Dolly’s life changed when her family heard about Sheroes. Here she met another survivor called Sonia, who changed her view of the attack.

“She told me that I wasn’t the one who needed to keep my face covered since I hadn’t done anything wrong. The person who has committed this crime should be the one to cover his face.”

Her assailant is now in prison. Dolly recently sent him a letter to tell him that he had failed to break her spirit.

“You burned my face, but not my will to live. You cannot throw acid on that,” she wrote.

She said she had forgiven him but she admitted that it had been a difficult process. “Sometimes, I have wondered how it would be to empty a full bottle of acid on you,” she told him. [My comment: For some people forgiving and forgetting is part if not the only way to deal with things and move on, it’s not for everyone (e.g. me) but she’s young and best of luck to her.]

In the cafe Dolly dances and sings, but she is wise beyond her years.

She is troubled by the fact that some people think the victims of acid attacks bring their misfortune on themselves, by rejecting the assailant’s advances. That is why she believes it is so important that survivors like her engage with the world instead of hiding themselves away.

She works hard at the cafe, serving backpackers who pass through town on their way to see the nearby Taj Mahal. She jokes with them in broken English and tries to teach them snippets of Hindi.

Sheroes helped her get her confidence back.

I like the fact that my parents feel pride in my work and that I’m standing on my own two feet.”

Dolly hopes one day to return to her studies and perhaps become a doctor.

So what would she say to another woman who was attacked today?

“I would tell her that whatever has happened has happened. Look forward. Don’t look back.”

Rani

Rani Acid Attack Victim Survivor Sheroes

Rani is the newest arrival at the cafe. She is not able to dance or sing like the irrepressible Dolly because her injuries are far more serious.

Instead, she sits in the cafe’s front yard, enjoying the shade, once the morning fog has lifted.

Rani was also pursued by a man who wanted to marry her.

Now 20, she was a teenager at the time so her mother told him to wait a few years until her daughter had finished school. But he persisted.

One day he accosted me in the street and tried to molest me. I slapped him. That made him angry and a few days later he attacked me with acid.”

Rani’s injuries were so bad she could not even walk – acid can destroy nerves and muscle as well as skin. The doctors in her home town were not equipped to treat her properly.

Even when she was transferred to a bigger hospital her burns were not washed out with water and she was left in the same bandages for days on end. Eventually she was sent to an Intensive Care Unit and she remained there for nine months.

In this time her weight halved. Rani’s family became concerned and had her discharged from the hospital, despite protests from the doctors.

She was then kept at home, bedridden, for four years.

During this period she got no medical treatment at all and became blind in both eyes. The only visitor she had was a childhood friend.

Luckily, a kind stranger intervened and secured Rani better care in a nursing home. There she received physiotherapy and began to learn to walk again.

Rani’s story is disturbing in many ways. Some in her family blamed her for the attack.

“They wished that I had agreed to marry that man and let him do as he pleased. But I wanted to study.”

Then there’s the unsettling fact that her attacker still walks free today. Rani has heard that he is married, has a family and a steady job. [My comment: Dear Goddess why does this happen?.. Rhetorical but still soul destroying to hear.]

He has all this, while Rani’s own dreams of joining the Indian Police Service lie in ruins. She still feels that she did not get the support she needed to see her assailant held to account.

“I want him to be punished. I want my case re-opened. I want him to suffer his punishment for life.”

Taking the train to Agra after four years shut away in her bedroom and the nursing home was incredibly exciting.

“I now feel like I have the strength and power to do things – the strength and support that I could not get from my family,” Rani says.

“I want to study more and being here has made me believe I can do that. By coming here I have gained a lot of courage.”

[My comment: ‘Thankfully’ someone showed her some mercy, not that she didn’t wrong at all, I just hate having to find concession from anything evil. You shouldn’t have to make the best of it. This poor woman, no one should go through this except those who do/help it.]

bbc acid attack case study taj mahal cafe womens group

Acid is cheap in India. It costs less than milk and is readily available in shops and markets. [My comment: Even junk food and sometimes pharmaceuticals are cheaper and more readily available than clean water, clean fruit/veg and toilet paper in some places.]

It is commonly used in households as a cleaning fluid for sinks and toilets, and in numerous industries, from textiles to jewellery-making.

In 2014, the National Crime Records Bureau recorded 309 acid attacks, but experts believe the real figure could be nearer to 1,000 a year – or three every day.

Many of the most serious cases are recorded because the victims require medical treatment. But there may be other cases that never get logged for fear of reprisals or because a victim’s own family might regard her as the author of her own suffering.

In remote areas, campaigners believe even fatal attacks remain hidden from view. A death may be hushed up and recorded as a suicide or a house-fire fatality.

The vast majority of cases are against young women – usually because they have rejected a suitor or annoyed an abusive husband or father.

It is a particularly vindictive form of crime. By disfiguring the victim for life, the perpetrator is hoping to deprive them of love. [My comment: Remember ‘Oath Maker’ W a few months ago when I asked “will I be able to love again” and that stumped you and your partner?]

And survivors often do end up ostracised by friends and neighbours simply because of their appearance.

BBC Acid Attack Victims Case Study

Not all victims have the support that the women of Sheroes provide for each other says Aarushi Ahluwalia, a journalist who specialises in shedding light on violence against women.

Many of the survivors she has interviewed have simply had to resign themselves to the fact that “they will never have careers, they will never get married and they will never be able to live the life of a normal woman,” she says.

“They are suffering in many ways we don’t even see.”

BBC Case Study Acid Attack Victims Law Violence Against Women Children

Three years ago an acid attack survivor named Laxmi Agarwal stood before India’s Supreme Court.

Laxmi was 15 years old when she was attacked in Delhi in 2005. She had rejected a marriage proposal from a family friend who then became obsessed with her.

One April day, when Laxmi was waiting at a bus stop on her way to a music lesson, her stalker threw a bottleful of acid in her face. It took seven operations to heal her wounds.

But out of this terrible episode, there emerged a tireless campaigner for changes to the law. Before arriving in court she had gathered 27,000 signatures for a petition to curb the sale of acid.

“When I saw Laxmi standing in the court it really pained me. She had gathered together all her strength to get justice not just for herself, but for every acid attack victim,” says Rajendra Mal Lodha, one of the judges, who went on to become India’s Chief Justice.

The Supreme Court responded with a demand that central and local government pass laws to restrict acid sales and provide better compensation and healthcare for survivors.

Buyers of acid are now required to provide photographic identification and vendors need a licence to sell it.

Campaigners have welcomed these changes but remain worried that there is a gap between the legislation on the statute books and everyday reality. It is still easy to buy acid in India, they say, without showing any ID at all.

Rajendra Mal Lodha agrees there are problems. “The laws may be there,” he says “but they have to be effectively implemented and unless that is done I don’t think much can be achieved.”

He would also like acid attack cases to work their way more quickly through the Indian courts. According to the law firm, J Saga Associates, the average case takes somewhere between five and 10 years to complete, which makes it hard for victims to move on with their lives.

“Things move slowly in our country,” says Lodha. [My comment: So slowly the victim might be dead before it ends.]

But Bangladesh has done great things. They have passed a law where the investigator has to complete his investigation within 30 days. Special tribunals then have to complete the trial within 90 days.”

Prosecutions should be fast-tracked in special courts in India too, he argues.

Ignorance and insensitivity can lurk in the most unlikely places – even in hospitals and courts. Lodha recalls an incident where a tactless judge once asked an acid attack victim to cover her face during proceedings. [My comment: that is beyond awful. Remember ‘Game Face/Rugged/Computer Software Tester/Decoy’ W after the second time you attacked me and got away with it scott free in fake proceedings, merrily running away on your like bike, how all yours got in the way and even hit me from behind.]

“Mindsets have to be changed” he says firmly. “Perhaps this could be part of education in schools for girls and for boys.”

Improving the status of women in India should be part of this, he says.

If men consider women equal in all spheres of life then perhaps a lot of this problem can be solved.”

Alok Dixit from Stop Acid Attacks – the NGO which runs Sheroes – agrees that changing society is still the biggest challenge of all.

“When you are an acid attack survivor, you walk out and everyone is watching you. People will comment or they decide not to give you a job. People treat you like something from another world,” he says.

In fact, Alok first came up with the idea of Sheroes cafe after he met and fell in love with Laxmi – the woman whose case moved the Supreme Court to action.

They now have a nine-month-old baby girl.

More recently still, Laxmi became the model for a range of designer clothing. One of its slogans is “What does not break you makes you stronger.”

In February 1834 in Glasgow a man called Hugh Kennedy threw acid in another man’s face.

“The crime of throwing vitriol has, we grieve to say, become so common in this part of the country as to become almost a stain on the national character,” wrote the Reformers’ Gazette.

“It is so savage and cowardly that fiends only, in the human form, can be guilty of committing it.”

So acid attacks are not only a challenge for modern India. Pakistan, Colombia, Cambodia and Uganda are among other countries facing serious problems today.

The worst country for acid attacks may well be Afghanistan, campaigners say, but there are no reliable statistics to back this up and the evidence remains anecdotal.

The phenomenon often tracks the use of acid in industry according to Jaf Shah from the London-based charity Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI).

“In Cambodia, for example, it’s more prevalent in districts where there is rubber production. In Bangladesh, it’s those areas where the jewellery or cotton industries exist.”

In the UK, attacks appear to be on the rise. Five hundred people have been injured or threatened with acid since 2012.

The police believe it may be becoming an alternative weapon to guns and knives, especially in gang-related violence. The Home Office is currently looking at whether there should be more regulation of corrosive substances.

In India, most attacks are perpetrated against women. But interestingly, in both Uganda and Cambodia 40% of victims are men. Gradually countries are beginning to share data along with suggestions on how best to stamp out the crime and rehabilitate survivors.

Like Rajendra Mal Lodha, campaigners often point to Bangladesh’s success. There has been a dramatic 70% reduction in cases in that country since 2002. It was the first nation to pass laws to control the sale of acid.

Pakistan, impressed by its example, followed suit in 2011. But not every country would want to go as far as Bangladesh in introducing the death penalty for acid attackers.

Colombia has been making progress too, following a high-profile case in 2014, when a woman from a middle-class background and was attacked by a stalker.

Natalia Ponce de Leon’s story shocked the country in a way that other previous cases had not.

The President of Colombia offered reward for information leading to the arrest of her attacker and the case recently prompted the country’s Senate to change the law.

Perpetrators now face sentences of up to 50 years, and a programme to provide protection to victims, their families and witnesses, encourages more people to pursue prosecutions.

Jaf Shah from ASTI believes a lack of confidence in the police and judiciary is one reason why so many cases across the world go unreported.

Many police officers don’t investigate attacks efficiently enough. Once that happens, you’ve lost vital evidence which might help bring cases to court.”

But perhaps the most powerful force for change is still the survivors themselves.

Dolly, at Sheroes cafe, knows only too well about the urge to cover up the scars and hide away in shame.

Today, however, her advice to other victims is simple: “They should not lock themselves up. They should meet people and talk to them.”

By telling their stories, they can help keep acid violence on the political agenda.

By having the courage to remain part of society, they can help break down prejudices and make it easier for others to step out of the shadows.

Acid attack hospital admissions have almost doubled in last 10 years

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/sep/30/acid-attack-hospital-admissions-have-almost-doubled-in-last-10-years

Data obtained by the Guardian shows a worrying rise in assaults using corrosive substances, while many incidents still go unreported

The number of admissions to hospitals as a result of attacks using a corrosive substance, such as sulphuric acid, has almost doubled in the last 10 years, new data reveals.

Amid rising concerns about acid attacks, statistics obtained by the Guardian from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) show that in 2004-05 there were 55 stays in hospital caused by them in England. But provisional data for the most recent period, 2014-15, shows this has risen to 106 admissions.

Reported Acid Attack Victims in England 10 years decade research

In one recent incident, Carla Whitlock, a 37-year-old mother of six, suffered serious burns after she was attacked with acid in Guildhall Square, Southampton, on 18 September. Two brothers were charged by police on Wednesday.

The Guardian has spoken to victims, community workers, support groups, ex members of gangs, and the police – and all warned that such attacks were of increasing concern. One male former gang member said: “Young gang members are more ruthless than they used to be. It’s now become part of the natural thought process to use acid; it’s on the roster.”

Analysis of the data also reveals a trend which surprised experts, with the biggest age group of victims being those over 75, who accounted for 253 of the 925 total admissions in the last 10 years. The figures refer not to people but admittances and it could be that older victims need more visits for treatment, and that such attacks on older people have been surrounded in secrecy and have been under-reported.

It is believed the real overall figures may be much higher because some victims do not report attacks and because hospitals are not forced to record the reasons for burns. A female victim who the Guardian spoke to described how she had been followed by a stranger before being attacked and was too scared to go to the police.

Six in 10 of all victims were male, while 71% described their ethnic origin as white British, the figures show (white British, according to the 2011 census, accounts for 80% of the British population in England and Wales). Globally, an estimated 80% of victims are women.

Jaf Shah, the executive director of the support group Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI), said: “Looking at the data in general, there is a fairly large probability that a high percentage of the incidents are male on male attacks and most likely to be gang related. The numbers appear to be very high and suggest an increase, which is very concerning.”

Kwambe Ibegbuna, a social worker and community activist in Manchester, said acid attacks were becoming more common – not just among gangs but in cases of domestic violence and also for intimidation. “I’ve had people tell me they wanted to leave a mark, others say they were attacked because they rejected people’s sexual advances. The stories vary greatly but the most consistent feature is to ensure the victim is traumatised greatly by the experience and that power has been exerted.”

A woman from West Yorkshire, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she had acid thrown at her two years ago by a man she had never met before but who had followed her home twice before the attack. “The third time it happened, I felt really intimidated. I turned around to see who it was and he was standing there with a bottle and bag looking at me. I didn’t know what was in it.

“I turned around and carried on walking, this time at a pace. But he just followed.

“I looked over my shoulder again and that’s when it happened. It was so fast, he threw the liquid at me. It hit my neck. I’ve never felt something so strong, it was a really strange sensation, as if something was breaking through my skin. I was so distressed but I didn’t want my family to find out, so I ran home.

“My neck started to blister. I frantically tried to wash it off with water in the bathroom sink, but that seemed to make it worse. I know it sounds terrible but I tried to pick at it, just to get it off my skin. For the next two weeks I didn’t go out, I was in total shock. I was worried about my mum finding out.

The woman said she did not tell the police because she thought the man who attacked her was very well connected in the community. “I just didn’t want any backlash. It’s just me and my mum you see … I didn’t want her to be attacked.

“I still feel self-conscious and nervous if I go out of the house, and I’m afraid of strangers.

“I was walking in the same area three months ago and I saw him again. I was petrified. He just said to me, ‘I’m sorry’.

I said ‘It’s OK’ and hurriedly walked away. My family have never found out. I still don’t know why he did it.”

The former gang member said using acid had become more acceptable and was not seen as a “big deal”.

He said: “People don’t think of the consequences. It’s easy to buy most of the ingredients legally… One of my cousins was done a few years ago. He was attacked on his shoulder and my uncle just dressed it for him at home. Acid is used as an extreme mark of dominance. It’s letting the individual know I haven’t killed you, but it’s almost worse than that, it’s a mark – on your face. It’s a sinister legacy.” [My comment: like when you’re kept alive just enough to be tortured every day.]

He was sceptical about the government’s chances of reducing the number of incidents. “Acid violence has become part of society. We need honest conversations about relationships earlier with our young people. Men no longer are trained to love and respect women. If you don’t get what you want it’s not OK to act like this.

“Young men need to be educated on how to sort out disputes with other young men without resorting to violence. We need to work out why these young people are so unhappy.”

Deputy chief constable Andy Cooke, the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead on violence and public protection, said he believed the number of attacks was underreported.

“Although the Guardian’s statistics do show an increase, I’m also sure that some offences of this type are not reported as a crime to the police. I would urge anyone who is a victim of this type of attack to report it so that we can deal with the matter positively and sensitively.

“It is virtually impossible to ban the sale of all corrosive substances, as many are household products. In recent years, the police service has made great inroads in tackling violent crime and has consistently worked to significantly enhance its intelligence picture. Intelligence coupled with consistent risk assessment and offender profiling may give us the opportunity to help reduce this type of offending in the future.”

One criminal law expert, Dr Loretta Trickett, of Nottingham Trent University, said the way data on acid attacks was collected “varies considerably in terms of how incidents are classified and whether persons or incidents are counted”, adding “This means is difficult to gauge the extent of the problem and speculation is inevitable.”

Separate to the HSCIC data, freedom of information requests revealed that 3 out of the 32 burns centres in England and Scotland do not currently code for these attacks.

Sarah Wollaston, the Conservative MP, who is a former GP, said: “It’s important to understand which groups are being targeted and that is difficult if these admissions and crimes are not being consistently and accurately recorded.”

The HSCIC data showed 12 admissions involved children under 10 years old, and 21 admissions for those aged between 10 and 17.

However, Shah said: “The most startling and shocking figure relates to the number of over-75s. This is a particularly vulnerable group.

“ASTI’s experience of working with local partners in low-income countries is that many victims of attack are reluctant to come forward and report the attacks for fear of reprisals.”

Gary FitzGerald, the chief executive of the charity Action on Elder Abuse, said: “These figures are horrifying. Although we see multiple instances of abuse reported to our helpline each year we have received no reports of this nature. We need to understand what is going on – is this hidden hate crime, domestic violence, or something else? We need an urgent inquiry by the government into what is going on, why, and what needs to be done about it.”

The Guardian put all the concerns raised around acid attacks to the Home Office. A spokesperson for the department said: “We want to get a true picture of this type of crime and we need victims to know they can come forward with the confidence their allegation will be taken seriously and be properly investigated by police. This government puts the highest emphasis on the needs of victims. We have given victims more rights under the victims’ code, and will reinforce this by putting key entitlements in law.

“There’s no place in society for these sickening attacks and perpetrators face a life sentence if they are convicted.”
The FOI figures show that the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham has treated the largest number of victims since 2004, with 69 patients. The Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle treated 44 people, the St Andrews Centre in Essex 24, Chelsea and Westminster hospital in London 20, and Glasgow Royal Infirmary 19.

‘Seventeen-year-old Neela Amina Khatun is one of more than 2,700 victims of acid attacks in Bangladesh over the past decade. “My husband was angry for a long time because he claimed a dowry but my family couldn’t provide one,” she says. Forced into marriage at 12 years old, Neela’s husband attacked her when she was just 14.

“His plan was to sell me in Saudi Arabia – when I refused he threw acid on me and he fled. The moment the acid was thrown I tried to cover my face with my hands. It was very painful, I was screaming and all the neighbours could hear and they came and took me to the hospital,” she says.

“I spent six months in hospital. I was so depressed because I was in a closed room and my whole body was bandaged up, so I couldn’t move. It felt like I was in a cage.’

A song my Mum was listening to recently that reminded me of this issue:

Five Finger Death Punch (remember the move ‘The Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique’ in ‘Kill Bill’ (2003) which ‘The Bride’ is taught and what happens to her, brutal attack, abduction of her child through an ‘abortion’, coma, rape) – Wrong Side of Heaven

My opinion: This is why I’ve never liked soldiers yet have always stupidly cared (Goddess I hate being sympathetic and empathetic nowadays) about the way they’re treated when/if they get back ‘home’. They’re tools, stupid imo for being patriotic, for fighting others just like them, for the mass rampant evil they instigate and perpetuate, and get away with. For the world wars they never end and continue. For being puppets to their egos, the governments, agendas, warmongers, corporations, international bussiness experimentors/torturers and who knows what else. Then when they have the ‘opportunity’ to regret SOME of them realize they’re not heroes and never have been and neither are those who encouraged and enabled them.

To those who’ve seen war God is now a woman, the Devil is a man. Soliders work for and look like the Devil.

Lyrics:

I spoke to God today, and she said that she’s ashamed.
What have I become, what have I done?
I spoke to the Devil today, and he swears he’s not to blame.
And I understood, cause I feel the same.

Arms wide open, I stand alone.
I’m no hero, and I’m not made of stone.
Right or wrong, I can hardly tell.
I’m on the wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side of hell.
The wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side, righteous side of hell.

I heard from God today, and she sounded just like me.
What have I done, and who have I become.
I saw the Devil today, and he looked a lot like me.
I looked away, I turned away!

Arms wide open, I stand alone.
I’m no hero, and I’m not made of stone.
Right or wrong, I can hardly tell.
I’m on the wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side of hell.
The wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side, the righteous side of hell.

I’m not defending, downward descending,
Falling further and further away!
Getting closer every day!

I’m getting closer every day, to the end.
To the end, the end, the end,
I’m getting closer every day!

Arms wide open, I stand alone.
I’m no hero, and I’m not made of stone.
Right or wrong, I can hardly tell.
I’m on the wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side of hell.
The wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side of hell.
The wrong side of heaven, and the righteous side, the righteous side of hell.

I prefer warriors not soldiers, and leaders should live by example not use pawns like some cosmic chessboard.
(I taught my Mother how to play chess btw and she’s better at it than Me 😉 )

End the game.

(The voice[s] in my head: “It’s a full mask [not a half face because my scars and continued bleeding run deep]”.) Flashback to another [World] Hug Holiday. My commentary in that and NO (I’ve always refused everything and never given permission) to a certain someone’s ‘hug ritual’ “to ensure they don’t hurt you” (and ‘QUEEN’ invasion “to prove we care/love/trust you”) and look where that sh*t has led HERE, HERE, and HERE

I hate masks (virtual reality, spiritual and/or physical), and ‘people’ (VIPs as opposed to the regular Jane/Joe ‘ppl’) and ‘others’ (non-human) [‘ppl, people and others’ being my terminology] who hide; their anonymity, power and fake authority. I’ve always preferred to be the real me and not a pale shadow of what I used to be nor what others want/ed me to be. I’ve always been Gold through and through, I don’t need your contamination and if I was a ‘guru-teacher-yogi’ aka REAL WARRIOR NOT SOLDIER/TEACHING ASSISTANT I would never have let ‘my’ (not that I’ve ever had any nor would I, I’m not a egoist who needs/wants followers) ‘students’ suffer unlike you and what you claim e.g. “My Lady, I’ve been going through all this to send you to school”.

The reptile Black chip is dead, the inner voice group is down to 1, other sh*t is coming through, what next? Take your demonic “Jasper-White-Sun” trash and die, you should’ve stayed married to your Sissy/Sister and implanted yourselves with your stupid chips. Miss the tree? Keep missing Me.

You remind of this campaign and another where the domestic abuse tv ad says the woman only gets flowers after he beats her and it’s too late to sorry when she’s dead with flowers at her funeral.

Can I get an Exorcism pt2 – **UPDATED**

Pt 1 HERE

So a while back I my fingers started to move on their own, and I said I didn’t want to be a Manchurian Candidate, immediately after I got a “sit tight” followed by a “I’m with you” and then the electroshocking and other ‘punishments’ started and continued.

I’ve finally managed to learn how to ignore the voices even though it’s 24/7 but since it/they know all my thoughts, memories and things I never knew/studied before it’s obviously too much. Tried to get me to throw myself over the balcony last night. Now my limbs are out of my control, it/they moved my left arm earlier to grope my right breast.

I am currently going through an exorcism btw but I really don’t know what to say about it, I’m not a religious person I’m actually very technical and like to research but well; ironically it/they (the voice(s) – master(s) of technical effects like dream imaging and sound effects, well I say masters but one just uses stock images and couldn’t even be bothered to finish one off but when they can rely on your mind/imagination to fill in bits they can be a bit lazy) like that I’m vegan but it/they are trying to get me off that too. Trying to make me the exact opposite of what I am really, Cain and Abel style ‘angel’ and the ‘devil’ on each side but far far more of the ‘devil’ and it’s 24/7 evil. Once the trauma is done (on top of the 24/7 there’s daily ordeals) it’s there, consciously and subconsciously especially as it/they can make me lose my memory of an event a few moments prior and the disgusting dreams, when I’m allowed to sleep of course “we’ll give you a few minutes every _____” style.

I remember when it/they first got in ‘contact’ with me (or I figure they were ‘in’ for much longer or at doing surveillance for a while before talking) for some reason I asked it/them “are you eloheim or nephilim?” A little while later it/they ‘came back’ and said “seraphim” to which I explained they couldn’t possibly be the seraphim because of it’s Indian roots. ‘Angels’ (the generic term for ‘others’ are in my experience nothing but shit, especially the so-called Archangels i.e. Micheal and Gabriel, the only two really established ones but that’s just Christian imitation of older religions and beliefs).

I might sound blasé but this has been going on (consciously) since March and you don’t want to know the amount of strength/energy (and abilities) it’s taken to get this far. No one/nothing should go through this unless of course they’re victimizers and the thing(s) at me just love to act like victims playing every angle and every storyline it/they can think of.

Interestingly enough Italy is being inundated with increasing requests for exorcisms; apparently 500,000 a year or 500,000 (no I can’t be bothered to look it up, can you blame me) on top of the usual and the priests can’t keep up. A joke really since they worship those doing the ‘possessing’.

EDIT 10.11.16 – Reminded of occasions when it/their ‘contact’ felt physical (discounting the ‘out of body’ ones) e.g. the feeling of being lifted approx 1.5inches off the floor (awake, dual consciousness as I call it so ‘there’ and here at the same time and being aware of/’being in both places’ at the same time whilst conscious not a hallucination, being lifted much higher than 1.5in by one of the ‘William’ characters – many playing ‘him’ and I didn’t know it). And another much more recently of another ‘William’ raping me whilst dressed as an eagle (that was following a dream of ‘him’ showing me ‘him’ whispering to a younger female that he was going to rape her all night), I felt the physical shove – ‘him’ pushing against me. There was another before that of a forced ‘kiss’ by another ‘William’ (it/they have 7-9 faces for ‘him’ that I can think of as well as other characters). This thing is evil.

What I think people really need to realize is that we’re asleep for 1/3 of our lives, that’s a huge amount and when we’re awake we’re using approx 30% of our energy on digestion. How much do we really know about ‘others’ and what’s really going on, how much reach does our consciousness and awareness really have? Especially when nightmares become your whole reality.

For me personally I have no foreseeable way out; my consciousness and limited awareness of it is orchestrated and contained, all I can do is keep trying to resist or die and what happens then – will this thing/they get me? What’s scheduled for me? Who knows. I never really cared about the ‘afterlife’ and I still don’t, I’m just generally worried as usual. As for the notion of reincarnation all I knew was that I was ready to retire and I still am  (from what I don’t know, I’m just old and tired).

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Abuse Victim

Kim Noble

The World of Mind Control Through the Eyes of an Artist with 13 Alter Personas

By VC on September 22, 2011 Vigilant Reports

Kim Noble is a rare occurrence: a trauma-based mind control survivor with over 13 alter personas who don’t know each other but who all paint. She has suffered DID and MPD (dissociative identity disorder and multiple personality disorder) for most of her life, as a result of an extremely traumatic childhood. Each one of her alters paints with a personal and distinctive style but they all have one thing in common: they reveal the dark world of mind control programming, from its horrific techniques to its symbolism. We’ll look at the works of this unique artist who reveals a world that is totally hidden from the masses.

Many articles on this site point out the presence of mind control symbolism in popular culture. Photo shoots, music videos and movies often glamorize and trivialize mind control and its symbolism by associating it with famous stars and trendy happenings. The fact however remains that these references celebrate one of the most abominable practices known to man: trauma based mind control, also called Monarch programming. Originating from the secret CIA project called MK-Ultra, Monarch programming subjects its victims to some of the most sadistic tortures conceivable (for more details on Monarch programming see the article entitled Origins and Techniques of Monarch Mind Control).

The works of Kim Noble vividly document the life of a mind control slave through the eyes of 13 alter personas. While a few of these alters paint peaceful landscapes and nature scenes, most of them depict horrific aspects of mind control such as physical torture, electroshock, violent abuse, dehumanization and dark occult rituals. The stories told by these paintings are almost too much to bear, yet they likely actually happened to Kim Noble as they precisely reflect  accounts of other Monarch survivors. Looking at the works of Kim Noble not only reveals gritty details of an abominable practice carried on by “elite” organizations, it reveals the symbolism that is also thrown in our faces on a daily basis through corporate-owned mass media. Let’s look at the life and works of Kim Noble.

Who Is Kim Noble?

I have the feeling that Kim Noble herself would have trouble answering this question. Here’s the biography found on her official website.

“Kim Noble  is a  woman who, from the age of 14 years, spent 20 years in and out of hospital until she made contact with Dr Valerie Sinason and Dr Rob Hale at the Tavistock and Portman Clinics.  In 1995 she began therapy and was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (originally named multiple personality disorder). D.I.D is a creative way to cope with unbearable pain. The main personality splits into several parts with dissociative or amnesic barriers between them. It is a controversial disorder but Kim has had extensive tests over 2 years by leading psychology professor at UCL, John Morton, who has established there is no memory between the personalities and that she has the misfortune of representing the British gold standard over genuine dissociation.

Having no formal art training, Kim and 13 of her personalities (alters) became interested in painting in 2004 after spending a short time with an art therapist. These 12 artists each have their own distinctive style, colours and themes, ranging from solitary desert scenes to sea scenes to abstracts, collages, and paintings with traumatic content. Many alters are unaware that they share a body with other artists.

What is remarkable to all is both the quality of their work and the speed of their progress. Within five years of starting to paint they have already had seventeen successful solo exhibitions and participated in an equal number of group exhibitions. Kim was also the first Artist in Residence at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting, South West London.”
– kimnoble.com

Despite the fact that she has to live with 13 alter personas – who randomly take control of her body – Kim Noble is fortunate enough to be living a relatively normal life. The fact that the programming stopped at a young age has helped her become “well-adjusted”. She has a teenage daughter named Aimee, who was mostly raised by the motherly alter named Bonny.

In the past few years, Kim Noble enjoyed some mainstream exposure and was featured in national newspapers such as Telegraph – Kim Noble, The Guardian – Kim Noble, The Independent – Kim Noble and several others. She even appeared at the Oprah Show, where she was interviewed and was shown switching personas. As you might expect from mainstream media, the coverage of Noble’s condition was extremely superficial and focused on exploiting the “freak” aspect of her condition for shock value. The true cause of her condition, trauma-based mind control, which is extensively described in her works, is almost never mentioned.

Although most articles and interviews about Noble “applauded” her courage and whatnot, none of them dared discussing the core message of her work and the system that it describes. Many of Noble’s paintings depict terrible scenes of organized, institutionalized and systematic violence, torture, and child abuse combined with elaborate occult symbolism. It is obvious that the trauma Noble went through was not caused by a single sadistic father but by an organized entity that held many children. The only article I found delving into the mind control aspect of Noble’s work was The Art of Dissociation from the excellent website Pseudo-Occult Media. However, to most newspapers, Noble’s work is nothing more than an example of “outsider art” (a term popularized by trendy art-world douches to identify art created by people with mental problems). Most observers are fascinated by the fact that each one of Noble’s alters paint with a distinctive style, but it’s as easy to recognize that her collective works describe her past as a Monarch programming victim.

The “real” Kim Noble does not recall any of the abuse she suffered – several of her alters do, however, and they express all of it in their paintings.

“To all intents and purposes, each of Kim’s personalities is an artist in their own right: Patricia paints the solitary desert landscapes, Bonny’s pictures often feature robotic dancing figures or “frieze people”, Suzy repeatedly paints a kneeling mother, Judy’s canvasses are large, conceptual pieces while Ria’s work reveals deeply traumatic events involving children.

These disturbing images are at the root of Kim’s extraordinary condition; DID is a creative mental survival strategy whereby the personality splits at a young age due to severe and chronic trauma. The number of personalities that exist often depends on how long the trauma lasts. But Kim herself has no memory of being abused as a child; she has been protected over the years by her alters.

“I’ve been told I was abused and to me at this moment in time, it’s too much. It goes in one ear and out the other. It’s no good retraumatising me and telling me something I don’t want to know – in any case, there would be a switch.”

Kim has good reason to fear learning about her past as it’s possible that if she acquires too much information, she won’t be able to cope and will “disappear”. It’s happened twice before. (omega)

This is where it gets really weird – for Kim isn’t Kim at all. The personality I am interviewing is Patricia and it is she who manages her and Aimee’s lives, but Patricia wasn’t always the dominant personality. Before Patricia took over, Bonny held the fort and two years previous to Bonny, it was Hayley.

Kim watches me closely as she explains: “You see Kim is just the ‘house’, the body. There isn’t a ‘Kim’ at all – she has completely split. So we answer to the name Kim but really I am Patricia. When people call us ‘Kim’ I suppose many of us just assume it’s a nickname, but once people know you they don’t use your name very often in conversation.”

Of the 20 or so personalities who share “Kim”, some are easily identifiable: there is 15-year-old Judy who is anorexic and bulimic, maternal Bonny, religious Salome, depressed Ken, sensible Hayley, Dawn, Patricia and elective mute MJ. There are also a handful of children “frozen” in time. A few of the alters know about the DID but many are unaware – or refuse to accept it.

“Judy doesn’t believe in the DID,” explains Kim. “She’s only a teenager and she calls our therapist a nutter when she tries to explain it to her. She’s so young, she doesn’t even think Aimee is her daughter. She knows about me and she thinks that I’m a terrible mother because I’m always leaving Aimee. To her, it’s totally normal to keep coming and going. She probably thinks that you come and go too.”

There are certain “triggers” that can force a change and gradually Kim has learnt what they are in order to avoid them – but it doesn’t stop her switching up to three or four times a day.”
– The Independent, “Kim Noble, a Woman Divided”

Let’s look at some of the works created by some of Kim Noble’s alters as they each provide a different look at the shady world of Monarch programming. Regular readers of the Vigilant Citizen might realize that a lot of the symbolism found in Noble’s paintings are also found in popular culture.

Warning: Several of these paintings depict disturbing scenes which might not be suitable for young or sensitive readers.

Bonny

Bonny, who was Kim’s “dominant” alter for a few years, is a warm and motherly figure. Most of her paintings portray humans as mechanical robots – which is one of the ways one could describe a mind control slave. Other pieces are more directly related to Monarch programming such as this one, aptly titled “I’m Just Another Personality”.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“I’m Just Another Personality” visually represents the splitting of the subject in several alters. The central figure, or the core personality has become simply “another personality”. It is blindfolded, representing the victims total blindness to its condition.

“I-Test” portrays a blank, emotionless face with blindfolded eyes. The skull is cracked, representing the fracturing of the psyche. One of the eyes is bloody and we can assume that it has been poked out. The symbol of the missing/hidden eye is extremely important in the world of Monarch mind control. It symbolically represents the loss of half of victim’s vision of the world – the other half being “taken out” and controlled by the handlers. In occult symbolism, the emphasis on one eye can refer to the Eye of Horus, the All-Seeing Eye, a symbol of the occult elite.

Golden Dawn

Golden Dawn is the alter that saw the birth her daughter Aimee. However, Dawn believes that Aimee is still a baby and does not recognize the teenage girl that lives with her. The name “Golden Dawn” has a heavy occult connotation as it is the name of an important and powerful secret society that taught Hermetic Kabbalah, astrology, occult tarot, geomancy, and alchemy to its initiates. It held within its ranks prominent occultists such as Arthur Edward Waite and Aleister Crowley. The process of Monarch mind control combines state-of-the-art “science” (if you can call torture “science”) with ancient occultism, whether it be in hermetic theories, kabbalistic symbolism or invocation rituals. It is therefore no surprise that she was given this occult-inspired name.

Her piece entitled “The Naming” visually depicts the process of creating and naming a new alter.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“The Naming” is an auto-portrait of Kim with one eye that was removed from the face and placed above her, bloody, which conveys the violent nature of the process. Once again, mind control is symbolized by the loss of an eye which appears to have been replaced by a text/poem that was probably used to program her.

Most of Dawn’s other paintings feature limbless, mannequin-like figures who are subjected to various methods of torture.

Key

The alter “Key” appears to have a profound understanding of the process of mind control and its underlying occult aspect. The name “Key” might refer to terms such as the “Key of the Mysteries” or “Solomon’s Key” as she seemed to have been programmed to understand some of the occult concepts utilized in mind control. Most of this alter’s works describe the programming process as a kabbalistic “Great Work”, with the Tree of Life (the main symbol of the Kaballah) as the main object of focus.

“It Happens” is an extremely detailed work describing the several layers of programming required to traumatize and program a mind control victim. The title “It Happens” is a disabused way of saying that … all of this really happened.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“It Happens” is comprised of overlapping layers surrounding a central figure: a helpless person strapped to a bed. The head is symbolically “decapitated” from the body using a line, representing the concept of dissociation. Each one of the overlapping layers contains a set of pictographs representing either traumatic events or occult symbolism. The outer layer depicts scenes of victims being electrshocked, hung from a tree, being caged, raped (sometimes with animals), caged, buried alive and more. From this outside layer, arrows point towards the second layer, which contains zodiac signs. According to F. Springmeier, zodiac signs are used as a code to assign and file body programs. The center layer surrounding the victim contains words such as “Hell”, “Devil”, “Blood” and “Kill” which are shock words used to further traumatize the victim.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

This one, entitled “Golden Kaballa”, uses the same basic layout as the previous image but replaces scenes of trauma with occult symbols and the central figure with the kabbalistic Tree of Life. Each one of the Tree of Life’s colourful spheres, named Sephirots, are used in Monarch mind control as “compartments” to store alter personas. The outer layer of the work contains the name of each of the ten spheres of the Tree of Life with its associated Hebrew letter.

By overlapping the trauma depicted in “It Happens” with occult aspects of “Golden Kabballah”, we get a rather complete idea of the process of mind control. They schematize, with near mathematical precision, a process that is described by authors on mind control such as Fritz Springmeier.

“The Cabala is synonymous with Hermeticism or Hermetic magic. The Cabala was jewish-babylonian magic. The jewish black magicians brought it to Europe. It began to get widespread notice in Europe after Enlightenment period. The great pyramid according to the occult is a symbol of the Cabalistic Tree of Life–the branches of the tree form the four streams or lines to the base of the pyramid. Because the Cabala is the basis of their hermetic magic, Illuminati systems will be fairly consistent in the make of a slave’s internal Tree of Life and Tree of Evil. (…)

The rooms of the tree of life have names. Essentially, every Illuminati hierarchy victim, has the Cabalistic tree of life placed in them. This tree lies below the other trees. The circles that make up the internal Cabalistic Tree of Life are called rooms or quads by the various survivors. Alters can use the internal Tree of Life to work magic internally. It also reminds deeper alters of cult control. The circles of the tree are rooms that can be entered into. Mt. Qabbalah is a figurative mountain in the Cabala.”
– Fritz Springmeier, The Illuminati Formula to Create a Mind Control Slave

This next piece, entitled “Seven Levels” is another highly detailed account of the process of dissociation.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

Comprised of several layers, this works depicts, from bottom to top, the “evolution” of a slave from the hell of trauma to the “heavenly” feeling of dissociation. The bottom two layers depict several horrific scenes of trauma. For example, we see in the bottom left corner a pregnant women giving birth to a dead child in a pool of blood under disturbing phrases such as “No Life”, “Death” and “Blood Death All Around”. There are also several caged children, others being electroshocked and others hung upside down. Inverted crosses are found all around these two bottom layers, reminding us that these traumatic events are Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA).

All of this trauma, pain and suffering seems to be “channeled” towards the layers above, consisting of a plethora of occult symbols such as the Tree of Life, the signs of the zodiac and All-Seeing eyes. It is during this occult level that the transformation occurs.

The top layer represents the (only) escape to all this trauma: dissociation. It is represented by an angelic figure rising to the sky. Looking closely however, we see an All-Seeing Eye in the sky, which reminds us that this escape is not true freedom, but a controlled state that has been induced by the handlers.
Judy

This alter is a teenage girl who is anorexic. Most of her paintings place a heavy emphasis on the concept of duality – one of the most basic occult concepts exploited by mind control rituals. Duality is an ancient hermetic concept which is traditionally represented with the juxtaposition of the colors black and white, as with the Masonic checkerboard pattern or the symbol of the Ying Yang.

Judy’s works often give a prominent place to the Masonic checkerboard floor, the surface on which occult rituals and ceremonies take place in secret societies. She was probably heavily exposed to the concept of duality (good girl vs evil girl – something that is also found in popular culture) and the symbol of the checkered floor was probably physically used during programming.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“Crying Rose” fully exploits the theme of duality used on mind control victims to create a “split of personality”. The crying girl, who is dressed in a checkered dress, reflects the checkerboard pattern floor, therefore insinuating that duality is occurring within her.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

This piece, titled “Symbolic or What”, is indeed … symbolic. Two girls (or two personas of the same girl) avoid stepping on the checkerboard floor due to the presence of a snake. They appear to be covering their genitals, implying that the snake is phallic symbol. The painting also attests to the great psychic power of the checkerboard pattern on victims, a trait that was probably part of the programming.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

This painting portrays Monarch slaves as literal pawns on a chessboard, who are “played with” to then be disposed of by their handlers.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

This self-portrait depicts Judy as a person divided into opposite entities. The concept of duality is therefore very present and represented by the juxtaposition of the colors black and white. The shock words and insults on the image recall the violent and abusive process that leads to the fragmentation of the personality.

Ria Pratt

The paintings made by Ria Pratt are the most graphic and disturbing but also the most revealing. The alter believes she is a 12 year old girl and has vivid recollections of the trauma she has been subjected to, whether it be physical or dehumanizing. Simply watching these paintings is a difficult experience – it is further disheartening to realize that she actually lived these situations.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“It’s a Dog’s Life” depicts mind control victims being held on a leash like dogs – a technique to humiliate and dehumanize the victims. Notice the “transparent” version of the children floating in the air, representing their dissociated alter personality. An inscription on the wall says “Pratt Was Here” which emphasizes the fact that she saw and lived these things first hand.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

Entitled “Too Much”, the painting depicts a victim being electroshocked by a handler with a sick smile. The pain is “Too Much” to handle, resulting in the victim’s dissociation.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

“What Ted Saw” depicts the abuse of a small child by its handlers. “Ted” is the small Teddy Bear sitting on the floor. Young mind control victims are often given Teddy Bears by their handlers to make them develop an emotional attachment to them. This attachment is then exploited by the handlers to create emotional trauma.

Kim Noble Ritual Mind Control Systematic Abuse Victim

In “Ted’s Legless”, Ria’s handler rips off one of her best friend’s legs while forcibly holding her on the ground. The trauma causes dissociation, which is represented by the transparent version of the girl. Haunting words are inscribed on the wall: “Help Me Please” and “Pratt was Here”.

“Unspeakable” depicts the unspeakable: the abuse of small children by their handlers. Strange phrases a written on the wall along with an inverted cross, a symbol that appears to be hardwired into the brains of Monarch slaves.

“No No!” depicts a forced abortion or premature birth. The bloody operation is witnessed by Ria, probably to traumatize her. According to Ellen P. Lacter, fetuses are either sacrificed in rituals or used as slaves.

This sums up the life of a Monarch slave.

In Conclusion

Although Kim Noble enjoyed some mainstream exposure, the true source of the artist’s condition – Monarch programming – is nowhere to be found in mass media. Analyzed in its entirety, Noble’s body of work describes a highly organized and complex system that appears to hold great amounts of knowledge- occult and scientific – as well as material resources. This system also appears to literally own humans, mostly children, who are abused and traumatized to create within them programmable alter personas. The fact that no newspapers dared to investigate (or even mention) anything related to MK-Ultra, a program that was proved to use the exact techniques described in the paintings, tells volumes about the power of those operating it. The soulless handlers depicted in Noble’s paintings are not lone psychopaths, but high level officials of the Illuminati system who enjoy media immunity. In fact, they are sometimes part of the media as the worlds of the entertainment business and Monarch programming often collude.

Partly for this reason, the symbolism used during Monarch programming has spilled over to the mainstream entertainment business. Some of the world’s biggest stars are products of mind control. The same symbols used in the programming of Monarch slaves is sent to the world through mass media. High level mind control handlers and slaves (those who have “succeeded” at the various levels of programming) end up operating in show business. Some of our favorite entertainers are nothing more than puppets whose strings are pulled by unseen handlers. These handlers are “unseen” to most, but they certainly make themselves “seen” through the symbolism placed in the media.

Many of the symbols described on this site directly originate from the shady world of Monarch programming, which uses a complex system of occult images and powerful triggers. Although most of us are fortunate enough not to live through the hell endured by these MK slaves, we are still subject to a form of programming using movies, television, music and other forms of mass media. Those who operate behind the scenes attempt to slowly normalize their existence and their depraved behavior. Sadly, the reality is sicker than the fiction.

Origins and Techniques of Monarch Mind Control

Monarch Celebrity Associated MKUltra Programming Handlers Torture Mind Control Networks

Monarch Programming is a method of mind control used by numerous organizations for covert purposes. It is a continuation of project MK-ULTRA, a mind-control program developed by the CIA, and tested on the military and civilians. The methods are astonishingly sadistic (its entire purpose is to traumatize the victim) and the expected results are horrifying: The creation of a mind-controlled slave who can be triggered at anytime to perform any action required by the handler. While mass media ignores this issue, over 2 million Americans have gone through the horrors of this program. This article looks at the origins of Monarch programming and some of its methods and symbolism.

Monarch programming is a mind-control technique comprising elements of Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) and Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). It utilizes a combination of psychology, neuroscience and occult rituals to create within the slaves an alter persona that can be triggered and programmed by the handlers. Monarch slaves are used by several organizations connected with the world elite in fields such as the military, sex slavery and the entertainment industry. This article will look at the origins of Monarch programming, its techniques and its symbolism.

————————————————–

Although the admitted goals of the projects were to develop torture and interrogation methods to use on the country’s enemies, some historians asserted that the project aimed to create “Manchurian Candidates”, programmed to perform various acts such as assassinations and other covert missions.

——–

Monarch Programming

“What I can say is I now believe that ritual-abuse programming is widespread, is systematic, is very organized from highly esoteric information which is published no-where, has not been on any book or talk show, that we have found it all around this country and at least one foreign country.

People say, “What’s the purpose of it?” My best guess is that the purpose of it is that they want an army of Manchurian Candidates, ten of thousands of mental robots who will do prostitution, do movies, smuggle narcotics, engage in international arms smuggling, all sorts of very lucrative things, and do their bidding and eventually the megalomaniacs at the top believe they’ll create a Satanic Order that will rule the world”. [4. D. Corydon Hammond, Ph.D]

———————————————–

Method

The victim/survivor is called a “slave” by the programmer/handler, who in turn is perceived as “master” or “god.” About 75% are female, since they possess a higher tolerance for pain and tend to dissociate more easily than males. Monarch handlers seek the compartmentalization of their subject’s psyche in multiple and separate alter personas using trauma to cause dissociation.

The following is a partial list of these forms of torture:

1. Abuse and torture

2. Confinement in boxes, cages, coffins, etc, or burial (often with an opening or air-tube for oxygen)

3. Restraint with ropes, chains, cuffs, etc.

4. Near-drowning

5. Extremes of heat and cold, including submersion in ice water and burning chemicals

6. Skinning (only top layers of the skin are removed in victims intended to survive)

7. Spinning

8. Blinding light

9. Electric shock

10. Forced ingestion of offensive body fluids and matter, such as blood, urine, feces, flesh, etc.

11. Hung in painful positions or upside down

12. Hunger and thirst

13. Sleep deprivation

14 Compression with weights and devices

15. Sensory deprivation

16. Drugs to create illusion, confusion, and amnesia, often given by injection or intravenously

17. Ingestion or intravenous toxic chemicals to create pain or illness, including chemotherapy agents

18. Limbs pulled or dislocated

19. Application of snakes, spiders, maggots, rats, and other animals to induce fear and disgust

20. Near-death experiences, commonly asphyxiation by choking or drowning, with immediate resuscitation

22. Forced to perform or witness abuse, torture and sacrifice of people and animals, usually with knives

23. Forced participation in slavery

24. Abuse to become pregnant; the fetus is then aborted for ritual use, or the baby is taken for sacrifice or enslavement

25. Spiritual abuse to cause victim to feel possessed, harassed, and controlled internally by spirits or demons

26. Desecration of Judeo-Christian beliefs and forms of worship; dedication to Satan or other deities

27. Abuse and illusion to convince victims that God is evil, such as convincing a child that God has abused her

28. Surgery to torture, experiment, or cause the perception of physical or spiritual bombs or implants

29. Harm or threats of harm to family, friends, loved ones, pets, and other victims, to force compliance

30. Use of illusion and virtual reality to confuse and create non-credible disclosure [8. Ellen P. Lacter, Ph.D., Kinds of Torture Endured in Ritual Abuse and Trauma-Based Mind Control]

“The basis for the success of the Monarch mind-control programming is that different personalities or personality parts called alters can be created who do not know each other, but who can take the body at different times. The amnesia walls that are built by traumas, form a protective shield of secrecy that protects the abusers from being found out, and prevents the front personalities who hold the body much of the time to know how their System of alters is being used. The shield of secrecy allows cult members to live and work around other people and remain totally undetected. The front alters can be wonderful Christians, and the deeper alters can be the worst type of Satanic monster imaginable–a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde effect. A great deal is at stake in maintaining the secrecy of the intelligence agency or the occult group which is controlling the slave. The success rate of this type of programming is high but when it fails, the failures are discarded through death. Each trauma and torture serves a purpose. A great deal of experimentation and research went into finding out what can and can’t be done. Charts were made showing how much torture a given body weight at a given age can handle without death.” [9. Springmeier, op. cit.]

“Due to the severe trauma induced through ECT, abuse and other methods, the mind splits off into alternate personalities from the core. Formerly referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder, it is presently recognized as Dissociative Identity Disorder and is the basis for MONARCH programming. Further conditioning of the victim’s mind is enhanced through hypnotism, double-bind coercion, pleasure-pain reversals, food, water, sleep and sensory deprivation, along with various drugs which alter certain cerebral functions”. [10. Patton, op. cit.]

Dissociation is thus achieved by traumatizing the subject, using systematic abuse and using terrifying occult rituals. Once a split in the core personality occurs, an “internal world” can be created and alter personas can be programmed using tools such as music, movies (especially Disney productions) and fairy tales. These visual and audio aids enhance the programming process using images, symbols, meanings and concepts. Created alters can then be accessed using trigger words or symbols programmed into the subject’s psyche by the handler. Some of the most common internal images seen by mind control slaves are trees, Cabalistic Tree of life, infinity loops, ancient symbols and letters, spider webs, mirrors, glass shattering, masks, castles, mazes, demons, butterflies, hour glasses, clocks and robots. These symbols are commonly inserted in popular culture movies and videos for two reasons: to desensitize the majority of the population, using subliminals and neuro-linguistic programming and to deliberately construct specific triggers and keys for base programming of highly-impressionable MONARCH children. [11. Ibid.] Some of the movies used in Monarch programming include The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty .

Levels of Monarch Programming

Regarded as “general” or regular programming,  ALPHA is within the base control personality. It characterized by extremely pronounced memory retention, along with substantially increased physical strength and visual acuity. Alpha programming is accomplished through deliberately subdividing the victims personality which, in essence, causes a left brain-right brain division, allowing for a programmed union of Left and Right through neuron pathway stimulation.

BETA is referred to as “sexual” programming (slaves). This programming eliminates all learned moral convictions and stimulates the primitive instinct, devoid of inhibitions. “Cat” alters may come out at this level. Known as Kitten programming, it is the most visible kind of programming as some female celebrities, models, actresses and singers have been subjected to this kind of programming. In popular culture, clothing with feline prints often denote Kitten programming.

DELTA  is known as “killer” programming and was originally developed for training special agents or elite soldiers (i.e. Delta Force, First Earth Battalion, Mossad, etc.) in covert operations. Optimal adrenal output and controlled aggression is evident. Subjects are devoid of fear and very systematic in carrying out their assignment. Self-destruct or suicide instructions are layered in at this level.

THETA – Considered to the “psychic” programming. Bloodliners (those coming from multi-generational Satanic families) were determined to exhibit a greater propensity for having telepathic abilities than did non-bloodliners. Due to its evident limitations, however, various forms of electronic mind control systems were developed and introduced, namely, bio-medical human telemetry devices (brain implants), directed-energy lasers using microwaves and/or electromagnetics. It is reported these are used in conjunction with highly-advanced computers and sophisticated satellite tracking systems. [13. Patton, op. cit.]

There are very, very few helpers/guardians on this planet, most are fake.

It’s hard to even know who they are and they’re persecuted too.

Rape is not insignificant nor a misdemeanor, it’s an unacceptable and unforgivable crime; and the numbers are higher than reported. Many parents and families sell their children or branches/specific lines of their children into all kinds of things. Ultimately its prostitution/abuse but there’s all kinds whether it be a rent-a-bride (buying a girl for a night, calling her a wife so that makes it ‘ok’ and bringing her back the next day), a rent-a-boy (marrying another male isn’t acceptable, just raping them is), obvious prostitution, ritual abuse, supernatural/cult abuse, invocation to be a host/attaché which is a lifelong attachment and can pass down to the next set of children, trauma inducing, bestiality, experimentation, near-death and death. Hey at least if something eats you [quickly] all it can do is kill you, better than torturing you for life, the ‘afterlife’ and your descendants. Then of course there’s the issue of migrants/immigrants and prisoners (though many think of them as interchangeable) I can think of one prominent world ‘country’ (that thinks itself the if not a world centre) that it allows its prison guards/soldiers a number of rapes per foreign/other religion female prisoner per guard. Don’t think that it’s certain countries and religions that do this, people are people no matter where they are, what they look like, how rich/poor they are. It’s not more or less in dependent on how wealthy or ‘educated’ the country is nor the colour of the people or the dominant belief systems. Also people who’ve been raped as children are often still abused well into adulthood – once they’re in it’s almost impossible to get out and predators can spot/sport them at a distance.

However some places are just like ‘open season’ e.g. war torn places, disaster ridden places, places with ‘peacekeepers’. Africa as a continent (not even specific areas) has long been a hell-hole when it comes to mass exploitation from within and without, wars, resource grabbing, pharmaceutical testing and dumping, corruption (well obviously), and basically not giving a crap about each other either.

Failed by courts, children bear brunt of rape in Ivory Coast: activists

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-ivorycoast-sexcrimes-idUSKCN10128N

By Kieran Guilbert

DAKAR (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – Children in Ivory Coast bear the brunt of sexual violence in a culture where rape is widely considered “insignificant” and perpetrators usually go unpunished, activists say.

Two in three rape victims in the West African nation are young girls, according to a recent U.N. report, which recorded some 1,130 cases of rape between 2012 and 2015.

Yet the number of rape cases is likely to be far higher, the U.N.’s Ivory Coast mission (UNOCI) said, as many victims do not come forward due to the fear of retaliation and stigma within their communities and a lack of confidence in the legal system.

While Ivory Coast has recovered from two civil wars, in 2002 and 2011, to boast one of Africa’s fastest growing economies, years of conflict have fueled a culture of violence, where rape is rife, according to the UNOCI.

“Rape is considered banal by a lot of people, they claim sex is an obligatory rite of passage for every woman,” said Jean Claude Kobena of the Abidjan-based group SOS Violences Sexuelles.

“They think no one should be imprisoned for an act they see as so insignificant,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Children are particularly vulnerable to sexual violence because so many roam the streets, out of school and forced to work because of widespread poverty, child rights experts say.

Almost half of the 20 million population of Ivory Coast live in poverty, and six out of every 10 children of secondary school age are not in education, according to data from the World Bank.

“Millions of kids are out of school and on the streets, relying on odd jobs to survive, which exposes them to abuse and rape,” said Save the Children’s country director Famari Barro.

NO MORE ‘MISDEMEANORS’

Rape victims and their families are often not aware of how to report the crime, or cannot afford to do so, activists say.

Victims may have to travel far to a court, and they must first obtain a medical certificate – which can cost up to 50,000 CFA francs ($85) – to prove they have been raped before pressing charges, said the United Nations children’s agency (UNICEF).

Most rape cases in Ivory Coast are therefore settled out of court, usually without the victim’s consent, with the intention of avoiding stigma and preserving peace within communities, and sparing the suspected rapist from jail, the UNOCI’s report said.

“For victims to seek justice, the culture of settlements must end, allowing them to speak up and be referred to support services,” said UNICEF deputy representative Christina de Bruin.

While investigations were opened in 90 percent of rape cases documented by the UNOCI, less than a fifth led to a conviction.

In all 203 cases that ended in conviction, the perpetrators were found guilty of a lesser offense than rape – often indecent assault – which is a common legal practice, the report said.

“Although seen as a way for victims to access justice and facilitate a prompt judgment, this practice minimizes the gravity of rape,” the UNOCI said.

Ivory Coast should revise its criminal code, which punishes rape without defining it, provide victims with free legal aid and hold special court sessions for rape cases, the UNOCI said.

The justice ministry this week in a confidential document seen by the Thomson Reuters Foundation issued a notice telling the authorities not to recategorize rapes as ‘misdemeanors’.

Issued a week after the UNOCI report, it also says sexual offences must be fully investigated and prosecuted, even if out-of-court settlements are reached or complaints are withdrawn.

The Ivorian government spokesman did not respond to requests for comment.

“Children have the right to be protected from these criminal acts which can cause lifelong incurable wounds,” said de Bruin.

El Nino driving child marriage and labor across southern Africa: agencies

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-africa-drought-children-idUSKCN10023K

By Katy Migiro

NAIROBI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – Tens of thousands of children across southern Africa are being pushed out of school and into early marriage or child labor because of drought and hunger caused by the El Nino weather pattern, charities said on Wednesday.

Southern Africa has been hard hit over the past year by an El Nino-inspired drought that has wilted crops, slowed economic growth and driven food prices higher.

Increased numbers of children are trading sex and doing domestic work to survive across nine countries, a report by World Vision, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Plan International said.

“El Nino’s impacts are worsening the lives of children in a number of areas with many facing sexual exploitation, violence, child labor and psychosocial distress,” World Vision UK’s child rights expert Tracy Shields said in a statement.

Children have become separated from their families as they leave home to find work or food, the report said.

More than 60 million people, two thirds of them in east and southern Africa, are facing food shortages because of droughts linked to El Nino, a warming of sea-surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, according to the United Nations.

The arrival of La Nina, a weather pattern which usually bringing floods to southern Africa, could worsen the situation, the U.N. has said.

Meteorologists predict a 50 to 75 percent chance of La Nina developing in the second half of this year.

Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe have declared national drought emergencies.

South Africa has declared a drought emergency in eight of the country’s nine provinces, while Mozambique has declared an alert for some southern and central areas.

Southern Africa has a three-month window of opportunity before the 2016/2017 planting season, to take urgent measures to prevent millions of rural families becoming dependent on humanitarian assistance in 2018, the U.N. has said.

Child rape: U.N. pot calls the kettle black in Ivory Coast

Child rape: U.N. pot calls the kettle black in Ivory Coast

By Tom Murphy on 15 July 2016

The headline from a new U.N. report says that the rate of rape remains high and that the perpetrators are eluding justice. Ironically, it is not about U.N. peacekeepers and foreign forces, but about the west African country Ivory Coast.

According to the United Nations Operation inCôte d’Ivoire report, in the five years since the country returned to peace, rape remains a prevalent problem, with children representing more than half of the 1,129 cases recorded between 2012 and 2015.

“Côte d’Ivoire in recent years has recorded significant progress in terms of human rights, but the persistence of rape and impunity towards their perpetrators remain of serious concern and requires urgent action,” said Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, U.N. high commissioner for human rights in a media statement marking the report’s release.

The statement has a familiar ring to it. The U.N. made similar statements in March after yet another round of revelations that peacekeepers sexually abused the people they were meant to protect in the Central African Republic. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he was “shocked to the core” by the news.

“Our focus must be on the victims and their families. We are talking about women and young children who have been traumatized in the worst imaginable way,” said Ban in a statement at the time. “These crimes only fester in silence. That is why the United Nations is shining a spotlight on these despicable, depraved and deeply disturbing allegations. I will continue to be unrelenting in confronting this scourge and raising it proactively at every opportunity.”

The common thread is a lack of accountability. According to this new report, authorities investigated more than 90 percent of the cases, but the conviction rate was lower than 20 percent. Cases that did go to trial and yielded convictions were for lesser offenses, reportedly to speed up justice, “[minimizing]the gravity of rape.”

The U.N. body said its prime concern is protecting children, and recommended taking “all necessary measures to bring to justice and punish all perpetrators of rape, particularly against children.”

The strongly worded statements to the Ivory Coast included advice the U.N. itself should heed. France announced Thursday that it would end its three-year military operations in the Central African Republic. Its controversial tenure was marked by accusations of rape and sexual abuse by French soldiers, who are unlikely to face criminal charges any time soon and might not be punished at all.

If soldiers from a country with strong judicial institutions are unlikely to be held accountable for their crimes, what chance is there that peacekeepers from developing countries will be brought to justice? The very same problems that influence impunity in the Ivory Coast are at play with peacekeepers.

——————————————————————————–

Many people think of UN peacekeeper violations as isolated events and like many soldiers in general i.e. tools of mass destruction they don’t care and get away with it, it’s part of the job. Being potentially raped by their own is part of the job too. Who do you trust? They’re just people and under stress they do terrible things, others don’t need stress just half an opportunity/temptation regardless of potential consequences, especially if there aren’t any.

If you had a price, what do you think you’d be ‘worth’? If you were selling yours or someone else’s kid or anybody of any age – what would you do it for, an end to poverty, an end to a situation in your family, big time success, just because you don’t like the person, because they’re a cute little thing, because you want to groom them into something else, a rite of passage, bragging rights, to show loyalty to a group/clan, to please a spirit/other being/god? There’s lots of reasons and not everybody needs the push the become a shove.

International Day of Sex Workers

I’m against prostitution, whether illegal or legal ‘sex work‘.

There is too much emphasis on the idea of ‘enjoying it‘ like the pretentious and nonsensical generic differencing when trying to promote burlesque over stripping. Prostitution and ‘exotic dancing‘ & escorting where the line is blurred when it comes to customer ‘benefits‘ are for the vast majority about exploitation of poverty and perceived sex/gender inferiority which is ultimately rape. Whether raped at ‘home‘ or in the local community by people known to the victim or in a bigger industry setting the practice is not mostly a glamorous scene of flamboyant, superficial courtesans who can name their price, pick their clientele, enjoy the ‘high life‘ and have an amount of respect from those who know what they do. Even those ones have stories of abuse, perhaps meager beginnings and not necessarily recommending it to youngsters looking to get in on the ‘game‘.

The word and acting like a ‘pimp‘ has become popular and common slang (like ‘nigger‘ though that isn’t in acceptable use by anybody of any colour) and though it has been extended to use for any subject/object it’s glamourised and normalized the idea of ‘pimps and ho’s‘ with people liking to dress up and party but they wouldn’t really want to be the whore. This, burlesque, pole dancing, pornography, ‘massage parlours‘ (of the likes where all the ‘staff‘ line up and you choose the one you like the look of) etc have just added to the demand and hence abuse and trafficking. There’s been too much emphasis on the individual consumer/client and individual enjoyment over realizing that individuals add up and so do their ‘needs‘/wants and there’s always plenty willing to supply whether those being supplied want it or not and without asking if those who have gotten used to the lifestyle would choose it if they could have had better or an equal/fair playing field in education and work opportunity before they became prostitutes. Customers cum rapists – that’s what they are if they buy another person who is available when they don’t want to be whether the customer knows it or not e.g. underage, trafficked, coerced (from general force to having to pay the rent/dependents/debts), blackmailed, tricked etc – want others to be available to ‘service‘ their needs and to vent their frustrations but why should they be, why should a supply spring up. There are those who think the customers are being exploited because for some reason they can’t satisfy or prevent their ‘needs‘ themselves and so it’s exploiting them.

Those who supply people to be purchased can pat each other on the back and be respected/envied/admired in society from photographers/filmmakers to the owners of ‘adult‘ magazines and clubs, customers have ‘right to privacy‘/’right to choose‘ and not be discriminated against but for those who are bought it’s more usually about shame and trying to hide a ‘dirty past‘ that can mean losing children, home, jobs. On another though related area, ironically the last past of that sentence is usually used as a counter argument against or to downplay rape and sexual abuse in general by those who want to focus on males who’ve been falsely accused but they don’t like to acknowledge it for exploited/prostituted people.

Others like to solely concentrate or use the minorities as a way of degrading the significance of prostituted women e.g. seem to think a counter argument is “well women abuse others too“. That shows a sad lack of priorities. I don’t ignore anyone i.e. prostituted boys, violence against men, transsexuals of any age and female predators (remember that it is not generally seen as predatory for males to have a ‘normal, natural need‘ to fulfill and hence buy/abuse others but when females do it they’re definitely exploiters and victimisers). Female predators like male predators exist on a personal/home level though tend to be more on the enabling/ignoring/voyeur side or in the unable-to-do-anything and also abused side or doesn’t-do-much-lest-it-happens-to-them side. On an industry level they tend to be higher paid women who like the male peers they worked so hard to get to the same level as think of others as ‘things‘ and ‘commodities‘. To me no one group of the prostituted is more important than the other (except for that tiny minority that do do it out of mutually informed and well ‘compensated‘ choice) but obviously when talking about the situation as a whole women and children make up most of the abused.

Women, children and children who grow into women are the ones most exploited and in some countries it is not uncommon for prostituted prepubescent children to be given hormonal drugs. Too many people think of children and women as separate and women as not as important but many were harmed from an early age and just because they’ve managed to survive, get older and in many cases had the abuse continue and add up doesn’t mean they’re less important or deserve less sympathy/compassion/consideration. They’ve lived with the horrors and scars much longer and many have even ‘gotten used to it‘ aka desensitized, resigned or dis-associative but that is no excuse for others to be desensitized to them.

It’s more than dehumanizing and problematic enough that we live in a world that’s all about money/currency to be able to survive and class systems, looking at people as walking body parts and sex toys adds to that and inevitably causes harm and then leads to arguing about ‘levels of harm‘. No one/’thing‘ should be be ‘livestock‘/’assets‘ at all.

The documents below are relatively old now but they still represent my thoughts on the ‘subject‘ (that word makes it sounds too academic and detached but that’s how it is to many, many don’t even give it that credence and others aren’t interested in ‘emotion‘/passion/sentimentality, unless of course it’s them or those they care about in the situation.)

Guest Editor’s Introduction

This special issue of the journal presents “The Case Against the Legalization of Prostitution.” Especially during the past 15 years, the debate about how legally to address prostitution has taken hold. Some countries, mainly in western Europe such as the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, have established various forms of legalized or decriminalized prostitution industries. Other governments, such as Thailand, prohibit prostitution activities and enterprises but, in reality, tolerate brothels and the buying of women and children for commercial sexual exploitation. Sweden has taken a different legal approach—penalizing the men who buy women for the sex of prostitution—as part of a comprehensive Violence Against Women Bill that locates prostitution within the framework of gender inequality and male violence against women.

A search of the scholarly literature on prostitution reveals that the common academic viewpoint has been to regard prostitution as legally inevitable, that is, to accept the fact that prostitution should be normalized and regularized as “sex work.” Most of these articles use the language of sex work as if prostitution has already been accepted as just another job. This is not the case, however. The debate about the legal status of prostitution is, in many ways, just beginning.

Arguments promoting legal normalization of prostitution are that it will reduce trafficking; bring the sex industry under control; regulate prostitution activities, venues, and third parties; remove prostitution from the streets and public places; end child prostitution; protect the women in the sex industry from abuse and violence; promote women’s health; enhance women’s choices; and offer women in prostitution the opportunity to be self-employed. The articles in this issue examine many of these claims, particularly in countries that have already legalized or decriminalized the sex industry, or that are considering legalization. Each of these articles has been written by scholar-activists who at the same time that they are academically and professionally credentialed experts on prostitution have worked in the field as activists, psychologists, service providers, and governmental coordinators of programs on prostitution and trafficking.

Melissa Farley, who has written on prostitution for many years and documented its physical and psychological health effects from interviews with hundreds of women in prostitution worldwide, discusses evidence demonstrating that the harms of prostitution do not disappear simply because prostitution is legalized or decriminalized. Farley was active in the 2003 debate leading up to the legalization of prostitution in New Zealand by a mere one vote majority. She uses the New Zealand context as a case study to examine nonprofit organizations and nongovernmental organizations
(NGOs) that, under the guise of promoting condoms and safe sex, actually advocate for legalization of prostitution; the pervasiveness of violence in legal as well as illegal prostitution industries; the health effects of violence to women in prostitution; toxic verbal abuse; post-traumatic stress disorder as a consequence of prostitution; and HIV education and promotion of prostitution.

Italy is now considering various proposals to legalize, regulate, and decriminalize prostitution as a reaction to the influx of foreign women in street prostitution there. Esohe Aghatise, who founded the IROKO association that assists women trafficked especially from Nigeria but also from countries in Eastern Europe, examines the Italian legal framework on trafficking and recent government proposals to bring back the casa chiuse or “houses of pleasure.” In describing the situation of women trafficked to Italy, Aghatise examines the plight of Nigerian women and girls who line the Italian roadsides and questions whether their situation would be different if legalization of prostitution were put in place.

Esohe Aghatise shows how one current government proposal (Proposal 3826) violates the 1949 Convention on trafficking and prostitution, which Italy has signed, and the ways in which it will sanction “private” prostitution venues, a double standard for women and the men who solicit them for sex, and an indirect obligatory requirement for women in prostitution to undergo frequent medical checkups else they risk being convicted of culpable homicide or culpable personal injury to a buyer. Aghatise argues that advocates, programs, and governments who claim to fight trafficking yet support the legalization of prostitution are contradictory and incoherent.

Janice Raymond, the guest editor of this issue, looks at how legalization promotes the demand for prostitution. Arguing that demand is gendered—that is, male, as in male behavior, not biology—Raymond spotlights what she calls the invisible man. Under state-sponsored prostitution regimes, he is absolved from any moral and political responsibility for the sexual abuse of women and children in prostitution. In fact, normalization of prostitution as work gives men more moral and social permission to buy women and children in prostitution.

Raymond’s article looks at the myths that rationalize why men buy women in prostitution, summarizes information on male buyers fromtwo studies conducted by the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), which she codirects, and presents best practices that address the gender of demand. She also targets the way in which condom promotion and safe sex programs validate pimps and buyers when conducted within the orbit of the sex industry.

Gunilla Ekberg, who is a special advisor at the Division of Gender Equality in the government of Sweden and coordinator of the Nordic-Baltic Campaign on trafficking, addresses the Swedish Law That Prohibits the Purchase of Sexual Services as an alternative to legalization and normalization of prostitution as work. The Swedish model of prostitution legislation, originally launched by the women’s movement and female politicians in Sweden, has become a cornerstone of feminist political advocacy against the sex industry. Ekberg lays out the principles behind Swedish prostitution policies and makes clear that prostitution is officially acknowledged as a form of male violence against women, a harmful practice and a serious threat to gender equality, and a tangible expression of the belief that in one country, at least, women and children are not for sale.

A fundamental part of the Swedish strategy is not only penalizing the buyers but also decriminalizing the women in prostitution and providing them with resources to choose alternatives. The law that penalizes the buyers is part of a more comprehensive Act on Violence Against Women (Kvinnofrid). Ekberg’s article addresses the effects of the law on trafficking into Sweden, on reduction of prostitution, on public opinion, and on women seeking help to exit prostitution. This is the first extended examination of how the law is working, the criticisms that have been made of the law, responses to those criticisms, and the law’s effects on the public debate about the legal status of prostitution in other countries.

These articles also represent an effort to equalize the debate about legalization of prostitution that has been dominated by the pro–sex work advocates. There is no evidence that legalization of prostitution makes things better for women in prostitution. As these articles indicate, there is a lot of evidence that legalization makes things worse for women in prostitution.

There are alternatives to legalization of prostitution. Rather than validating pimps, brothels, and buyers, governments could address the demand by penalizing the men who buy women and children in prostitution industries and implement prevention programs that target men and boys. This special issue of the journal presents some legislative and best practice models that can be used to address the demand.

“Bad for the Body, Bad for the Heart” Prostitution Harms Women Even if Legalized or Decriminalized

MELISSA FARLEY
Prostitution Research & Education

With examples from a 2003 New Zealand prostitution law, this article discusses the logical inconsistencies in laws sponsoring prostitution and includes evidence for the physical, emotional, and social harms of prostitution. These harms are not decreased by legalization or decriminalization. The article addresses the confusion caused by organizations that oppose trafficking but at the same time promote prostitution as a justifiable form of labor for poor women. The failure of condom distribution/harm reduction programs to protect women in prostitution from rape, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and HIV is discussed. The success of such programs in obtaining funding and in promoting prostitution as sex work is also discussed.

This article was written in response to Debbie Nathan’s ‘Oversexed’ (Nation, August 29, 2005). Nathan sympathizes with those on the Left who consider prostitution to be a form of labor rather than violence against women. Nathan criticizes abolitionist feminists who think that women in prostitution deserve more in life than a condom and a cup of coffee. In fact, we feminists think that women in prostitution deserve the right NOT to prostitute. That’s what almost all women in prostitution tell us they want: to get out. ‘Unequal’ criticizes the use of HIV prevention funds as a means to promote legalized prostitution.

Trafficking for Prostitution in Italy
Possible Effects of Government Proposals for Legalization of Brothels

ESOHE AGHATISE
Associazione IROKO Onlus

This article gives an overview of the problem of trafficking for prostitution in Italy and notes different trafficking dynamics according to countries of origin of the victims. It examines changes in trafficking patterns, various activities carried out by the Italian government and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to assist victims, the Italian legal framework used to combat trafficking, and the recent government proposal to legalize brothels. In conclusion, the article suggests strategies to combat prostitution and trafficking. The main emphasis is on the trafficking of Nigerian women and girls to Italy.

For further reading this site has a lot of information and reports on sex slavery in and from Nigeria to Europe including religious, magical/witchcraft/voodoo prostitution.

http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/Nigeria.htm

I can add to that by saying that I know/have known women from India both from relatively ‘safe’ and even ‘happy’ lives there or the opposite who were brought to the UK as children-teens and young adults just married by relatives, so-called relatives and ‘friends of the family’ who were then raped, abused and prostituted by their real or unreal parents/guardians and part of that was ritualistic. These practices are not uncommon at all in older generations than myself but I’ve known people my age as well who came with their aunts/uncles and then pretty much used as domestic servants or worse than the real children/their cousins and/or had some kind of ‘magical‘/trauma based grooming/conditioning.

The Swedish Law That Prohibits the Purchase of Sexual Services
Best Practices for Prevention of Prostitution
and Trafficking in Human Beings

GUNILLA EKBERG
Ministry of Industry, Employment, and Communications

After several years of public debate initiated by the Swedish women’s movement, the Law That Prohibits the Purchase of Sexual Services came into force on January 1, 1999. The Law is the first attempt by a country to address the root cause of prostitution and trafficking in beings: the demand, the men who assume the right to purchase persons for prostitution purposes. This groundbreaking law is a cornerstone of Swedish efforts to create a contemporary, democratic society where women and girls can live lives free of all forms of male violence. In combination with public education, awareness-raising campaigns, and victim support, the Law and other legislation establish a zero tolerance policy for prostitution and trafficking in human beings. When the buyers risk punishment, the number of men who buy prostituted persons decreases, and the local prostitution markets become less lucrative. Traffickers will then choose other and more profitable destinations.

Prostitution on Demand
Legalizing the Buyers as Sexual Consumers

JANICE G. RAYMOND
Coalition Against Trafficking in Women

Research, programs, and legislation related to sex trafficking are often premised on the invisibility of the male buyer and the failure to address men’s role in buying and abusing women in prostitution. Governments, UN agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and others act as if the male demand for sexual exploitation is insignificant, or that prostitution is so entrenched because, after all, “men will be men.” Little research on trafficking has focused on the so-called customer as a root cause of trafficking and sexual exploitation. And even less legislation has penalized the male customer whose right to buy women and children for prostitution activities remains unquestioned. This article looks at the demand—its meaning, the myths that rationalize why men buy women in prostitution, qualitative information on the buyers in two studies conducted by the Coalition Against Trafficking inWomen (CATW)—as well as best practices that address the gender of demand.

In Asia, a study of Thailand conducted by the U.S. Agency for International Development reported that 75% of Thai men were prostitution buyers and that almost 50% had their first sexual intercourse with women in prostitution (Brown, 2000). In Vietnam, 70% of those caught in brothels are reported to be state officials (“Officials Make Up 70%,” 2000). Brown (2000) also cited studies that indicate that 60% to 70% of men in Cambodia have purchased women for sexual activities.

In Europe, 1 of 8 (or 12.5%) men in Sweden uses women and children in prostitution (Ministry of Industry, 2003). At a recent conference in Alba, Italy, on the subject of legalization of prostitution, it was reported that 1 of 6 (or almost 17%) Italian men uses women in prostitution. Differently stated, this means that in Italy, 9 million men use an estimated 50,000 women in prostitution (International Conference, 2004). According to German criminal psychologist, Adolf Gallwitz, 18% of German men regularly pay for sex (“Stolen Youth,” 2003). A German doctoral thesis in process finds that one million prostitute-users buy women daily in Germany for sexual activities (Herz, 2003).

A 1997 study in the United Kingdom estimated that 10% of London’s male population buys women for the sex of prostitution (Brown, 2000). In the United States, as early as 1948, it was estimated that one half of the adult male population was frequent prostitute-users, and that 69% of the same population had purchased women for sexual activities at least once (Brown, 2000).

Numbers, of course, can always be debated. Yet these various statistics, ranging from lower to higher, indicate that large-enough numbers of men buy women and children to satisfy their sexual demands.

Bear in mind that it is still a common to blame females for pregnancy and for sabotaging condoms (without taking into consideration who is more likely to buy/have them and in places where contraception is even allowed – yet obviously they still have prostitution). Studies in the above documents clearly show what many have already known that the likelihood of females sabotaging contraception is an extreme and exceptional argument used as a norm to ignore the issues and add importance to the un-likelihoods. It is common for prostituted people to be demanded or asked and even paid extra (to them or the pimps) to not use condoms. I’m know that there are females who pressure males into having children (some are pitiful in feeling a need to have children to fulfill some part of themselves and whilst their situation is more sympathetic I do think it best not to go along with anyone who is willing to risk having children to ‘make things better‘ let alone ignoring the likelihood of children not having a choice to be born in the first place and assuming they will be grateful for it/life) and those who would/do covertly manipulate a situation to have children to benefit their own position. I call those in the former group who successfully pressure men into having unwanted children rapists just as I would the other way round and obviously that goes for the latter group as well. I don’t find it acceptable to also take the risk that the person not wanting the child will later change their mind, make the best of it and even call them a blessing. Just because they may love and would not of their own choice lose the child doesn’t mean it was ok to force/manipulate/deceive them into it.

The information also illustrates the use of prostitution on plantations/farms which is a massive area of supply to consumer food/products and one many don’t really comprehend just how much land, people, animals it takes to make a single ingredient on an ingredient list in products bought in bulk every day. It highlights how prostituted people are abused en masse by workers and there’s mutual silence by so-called health professionals who deem the prostituted fit and healthy (standards of passable health are much lower because it’s acceptable for poor people let alone the prostituted to be more disposable.)

Dorchen A. Leidholdt, Co-Executive Director
The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (Oct 2003)

An exceptional speech against the belief that prostitution and pornography are jobs just like any other job and should be treated as such.

I had never heard of a single instance in which a secretary or college professor had been flung out of a window of her workplace to her death on the streets below. And while married women were leaving abusive homes in droves, their prostituted sisters often didn’t have homes to leave. It would be six years before I would encounter the Canadian Report on Prostitution and Pornography with its finding that prostituted women in Canada suffer a mortality rate 40 times the national average. But it was no secret that prostituted women were the special targets of serial killers. How many jobs had murder as a frequent workplace safety hazard?

———-

Although many of us believed that we were protesting images of violence, in reality we were protesting violence documented. The rape was not only on paper. The images were mostly photographs of actual women, with histories of horrific abuse, whose bodies were bought, sold and violated for the benefit of sex industry profiteers. I learned this when, as a spokesperson for Women Against Pornography, I responded to media requests for debates. Usually it wasn’t the pornographers we were asked to debate but the women who fronted for them. The media preferred “cat fights,” and the pornographers were happy to accommodate them.

In the December 1984 issue of Film Comment, I wrote about three of these women: a former “porn star” and so-called producer of a pornography magazine who struggled to support her daughter and confided in me that her career in the sex industry had been precipitated by a brutal gang rape; a 23-year-old centerfold model with a shattered nose (shattered by a baseball bat), married to a pornographic film director who always kept her in his sites; another “porn star” who deviated from her script on the air to mention that her husband beat her. I later leaned he also pimped her. It was a sobering revelation: the sex industry defenders we were pitted against on TV talk shows were the most brutalized sex industry victims.

Linda Marchiano, pimped, threatened, and beaten by the vicious Chuck Traynor, who in classic pimp fashion renamed her Linda Lovelace, was handed a script by her captor: “Q: Does it bother you to suck cock in front of so many people.” “A: Oh no, I love it. I guess I’m what you call an exhibitionist.” Anneka DiLorenzo, a Penthouse Pet, was sent out on the road by Guccione as a “Woman for Pornography.” She later successfully sued Guccione for sexual harassment after she proved that he pimped her to a business associate.

But for me the most profound revelation came not from our opponents but from one of the women in our group. She was a bundle of contradictions: a brilliant feminist theorist and a working class housewife from Queens, trying without success to have a baby. She rose to a leadership position in WAP, and we became close friends. Then I leaned why she couldn’t have a baby. She had been in prostitution from the time she had run away from her sexually abusive stepfather at age 14 until, her body ravaged by heroin, she was no longer a marketable commodity. Repeated bouts of venereal disease had destroyed her reproductive system. She had scars on her thighs from the time one of her pimps beat her with a coat hanger. She had teeth knocked out from another beating. I had taught Sarah about feminist theory; now she taught me about the lives of women and girls in prostitution. They were lessons that changed my life.

I began to understand, through my work with Sarah, that prostitution was not a job at all. The money it generated rarely ended up in the pocket of the prostituted girl or woman. It usually was confiscated by one of a series of men who pulled her into prostitution and kept her there, often at first through coercion but later by the creation of an environment that made the batterer’s dominion of power and control look like child’s play. Worn down by abuse and degradation, she finally submitted to her fate—and that submission was called consent or choice.
———-

Sarah called prostitution “bought and sold rape.” But in reality it was gang rape, and not just a single gang rape, but gang rape carried out day after day, for years.
———-

A decade after the conference the Dutch government fully implemented its agenda by legalizing and licensing 2,000 brothels and registering as prostitutes the women and girls in them. Once prostitution was legal in the Netherlands, brothel owners began to recruit women into prostitution through government-sponsored job centers for unemployed workers.

Why not take a look at the figures of missing persons in your country year by year, and think about where many of them have ended up; many will have died homeless, many will have been trafficked for ‘sex work‘, others for domestic and farm labour and out of the last group the women and children will also likely/have suffered sexual abuse as well. Also bear in mind that globalised prostitution is exactly that – there are many places that are racial specific particularly ethnic minorities who want ‘their own‘ and then there are those who like variety who tend to be the racial majority so people have to be taken from everywhere to everywhere and in huge numbers to satisfy demand.

Exploitation of the poor includes surrogacy which is a type of ‘sex work‘ rampant in countries such as India and Nepal. I’m not going to go into surrogacy vs fostering or adoption but as a ‘viable form of work‘ and a ‘justifiable form of travel for available resources‘. Those who stand up for and praise it and especially going abroad for surrogacy – well, if it’s allowed in one’s own country why do people go abroad? Because there’s more availability and it’s cheaper. Then for some those rent-a-wombs are forgettable. It’s so much easier getting poor females, and moreso foreign poor females to be a surrogate and even act like she has no problem with it and be all warm and nice to potential clients to better their chances of a sale (if it’s one of those routes where the sides meet). Can you imagine more women in Western countries agreeing to do it, if it’s so legit and wonderful why don’t more close friends and even family members (where it’s ‘legal‘ and not considered extended incest) offer to be the host? Just like the military has taken advantage of recruiting the lower classes into the main bulk of the lower ranks and nowadays by promising all sorts of benefits (just sell your life away) and when nudity became legal on stage and stripping started and then on to pornography – whilst all classes are involved and buy into it, most of those doing the direct service are of the poor. ‘Ten a penny‘ and ‘dime a dozen‘? Ha, nowadays that’s not a bargain.
