Instead of a Prince, I got Remote & Close Artificial Intelligence

This post was reserved for ‘Feast of the Beast – Bride/Sacrifice of the beast, rescued’ BUT I just discovered something in the interim.

I’ve been suffering auditory and visual hallucinations 24/7 connected to dreams for over a year, though have sporadically experienced them before. After much trial and error/multi-pronged subject approach to figure out what this ‘illness’ is I figured it was part electro-weaponry/psi-ops and part ‘spirit’/other dimensional i.e. the whole thing is ‘existential’.

My experience has involved 4-6 groups of ‘characters’, some upto 10-11 in a unit/group but sometimes they showed themselves as more and are capable of playing multiple characters simultaneously. I’ve brought them down to 1 character and an ‘other’ (reptillian and based off another implant/chip or at least that’s how I ‘see’ them, it started off seriously savage but I made it cute and the other character fell in love with her) and that is an amazing enough achievement in itself given their capabilities. My list of symptoms was HERE. I already knew that this type of tech is 2-way in terms of communication, you can contact whoever implanted you and are remote (away from you and they don’t need to be close to you anymore either) through it though it’s not easy but I didn’t know what the ‘characters’ stuck with me really looked like because they and the remote ‘players’ play complex ‘games’ of moral ‘good vs bad’, other battle style hunts/challenges and a hell of a lot of shame and humiliation ritual, punishment and no reward. It should have been obvious really but many people think all artificial intelligence is alien e.g. ‘real’ in human reality, they’re ‘real enough’ but I can’t tell which are humans using virtual reality tech and which are strictly design/like video game characters but semi-sentient and emotional.

The character left is called ‘Adam’ (how creative in developing a new species so to speak *rolleyes*, pathetic, that’s been done so many times) and he (plus two others) looked like the pic below from this post HERE (same as the above link): two of The Hobbits from Lord of the Rings, again so creative, not *rolleyes*:

Artificial Intelligence, Spiritual Implant, Alien Implant, Psy-Ops, Possession, Psychic Warfare, Shapeshifters

The Hobbits from Lord of the Rings look just like the stupid ‘spiritual’ [morelike artificial intelligence] implants left in/with me (sharing the same parameters as me as they’re possessing me aka not in another dimension, the view the world in the same way as I do and can’t see any ‘others’ like them or different, they mainly use my senses except when they go into other people’s dreams/talk to family in vicinity). There was a whole group of them, then there were three, another died on 22nd and the ones left don’t even care and no I don’t know why these two look the same, they deny the others looked like them. They’ve lost a hell of a lot of their knowledge/ability (and they don’t know anything about humanity/animals/culture/science/environment/the world nor do they use technology).

I’ve been trying to look at and through ‘Adam’ for a while now and I usually saw him as code somewhat Matrix style but it was never complete. But today I dissected him, I pulled out his spine and saw the usual code, however then I managed to strip his skin and hair (and that’s probably only because I managed to completely break the reptile Black chip right alongside ‘his’ as I wrote about HERE) and saw what ‘he’ really looks like.

It’s just like a computer graph image for making a character 3D graphic/cgi but better. It looks JUST LIKE THIS except ‘his’ ‘spots’ are smaller and more Blue:

artificial intelligence, semi-spirit, implant, technology, virtual reality, augmented reality, cyber being

Zarn from ‘Land of the Lost'(1974–1976) (which I was going review a while back but didn’t get round to) looks just like Adam and potentially other ‘characters’ I’ve come across.

Artificial Intelligence/cyber being/virtual reality/augmented reality (bear in mind virtual reality headsets have become entertainment tech recently though online/console VR has been around for ages). Amazing and awesome but definitely SHOULDN’T BE CONNECTED TO/PUT INTO ANYONE/THING AND DEFINITELY NEEDS A WORLDWIDE ETHICS COMMITTEE AND COMPENSATION FOR THE VICTIMS AND TEST SUBJECTS (THOUGH WHAT WE’VE BEEN THROUGH CAN NEVER REALLY BE COMPENSATED FOR).

Some people think this plan is in action and it could well be given the advent of head transplants – trying to transfer a whole consciousness to another body (supposedly only for medical reasons such as paralysis victims but incredibly expensive and business’ find it hard to be viable for just that http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3965054/Surgeon-world-s-human-HEAD-transplant-says-operation-place-UK-year.html):

Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Cyber Beings. Electronic Entities, Spirits, Inter-Dimensional Beings, Perfecting Humanity, Transhumanism

Avatar of yourself from physical to virtual.

The above being an attempt to ‘perfect humanity’ and transhumanism.

I wonder how many people figure this out without having been taught/briefed on the details and have had their whole education sabotaged no less.

Not for me, I like having a 3D body as I’ve said many times before.

Retrospective Post of the Month – Dream Lovers, Voice Lovers, Vision Lovers; Ultra-terrestrial/Tech, Extra-terrestrial/Tech, Human Upgraded/Tech or a mix?

Once upon a time I had a dream, a typical yet strange masonic dream if that makes sense. It was a message but with a few tell tale clues that told me it wasn’t real i.e. the type of dream a lot of people mistake for past life dreams or prophecy. It was happening in real time and virtual ‘spiritual’. Just to make things clear, I don’t have to go into REM to dream, I haven’t in a very long time, I can just close my eyes, drift a little and straight away I’m dreaming and I can have a continuous dream all night even if I wake up (sometimes continually) in between.

I was in an ancient Egyptian style temple which looked a lot like a scene from Jupiter Ascending (2015) except there were giant pillars.

jupiter-ascending

Apparently I lived there and there was currently trouble in paradise. An old man/middle aged White bald/ing guy took me round the waist and escorted me outside telling me he had to leave but “he will look after you” – a ‘man’ in a room near my bed chamber. Someone who’d worked for him? A bodyguard. A ethereal being. Tall, White, dark haired, transparent.

I remember rushing to a library in Maine, US and recalling or thinking about the Library of Alexandria and knowing that there were two sites, not one as many people think and yes there was a temple nearby.

Basically this is not the first time someone has shown me an ‘other’ – a tall, White, dark haired, good looking ‘man’ who is after me and trying to get me to another level, whether he’s scaring/hunting me to push me there or trying another angle. But put it this way I’m nobody’s bait and I don’t have a ‘lost husband’ as some have tried to convince me of.
————————————————————————————————————————————————-

I’ve come across the work of Eve Lorgen (one of six researchers, 4 of whom died/met terrible ends) regarding ‘Love Bites’ i.e. relationships engineered/messed around with by ‘others’ either between humans or humans and ‘others’ and her interviews are very detailed. They explain numerous scenarios, false promises, cloning, dual consciousness etc.

Now let’s take a look at the popular media, especially those from Monarch style programming:

Mariah Carey’s (the lady obsessed with Butterflies, not the only star in Hollywood with that obsession; and now unicorns are dominating that hell hole) Dream Lover; lyrics:

I need a lover to give me
The kind of love
That will last always
I need somebody uplifting
To take me away

I want a lover who knows me
Who understands how I feel inside
Someone to comfort and hold me
Through the long lonely nights
‘Till the dawn
Why don’t you take me away

[Chorus:]
Dreamlover come rescue me
Take me up take me down
Take me anywhere you want to baby now
I need you so desperately
Won’t you please come around
‘Cause I wanna share forever with you baby

I don’t want another pretender
To disillusion me one more time
Whispering words of forever
Playing with my mind

I need someone to hold on to
The kind of love that won’t fly away
I just want someone to belong to
Everyday
Of my life
Always
So come and take me away

[Chorus]

Mariah Carey – Fantasy

Fairground = confusion – she’s by herself skating and on a rollercoaster alone instead of with friends – the sad clown and then the party – with her trademark bunch of “black dudes dancing [in a field]” (aka as in Dream Lover). Mariah’s videos aren’t as telling of ‘code’ and certainly not in comparison to modern videos/award shows etc, hers have always been very focused on her moving around a little and looking attractive.

Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” Video is About Occult Mind Control
September 17, 2009

Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” video is viewed by most people as being merely  “sexy” or “fashion” but not many get its occult meaning. Hidden in the symbolism of the video and in the song’s lyrics are references to dark themes: possession and mind control.

If you read my other article on Beyonce called “Beyonce to Sasha Fierce – Occult Symbolic Rebirth“, you’ll already be aware of the dark symbolism surrounding Sasha Fierce. “Sweet Dreams” is a perfect continuation of the dark themes surrounding Beyonce’s alter-ego: dark occultism, mind control, spirit possession, etc. The lyrics of the song and the imagery of the video have a supernatural and ethereal quality, as Beyonce professes her love to someone or something she calls a “sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare”.

Essential Information

So what is this song about? Love? Yes. Love of her mind controlled state and of her controller. Pretty disturbing. What is mind control? It is a technique developed by the CIA to literally control a subject’s mind (google MK Ultra for more info). “Monarch Programming” uses extreme treatments (such as electroshock) to cause a major trauma in the victims psyche. Ron Patton describes the main precepts of“Monarch Programming” here:

Definition and Description
“The name MONARCH is not necessarily defined within the context of royal nobility, but rather refers to the monarch butterfly. When a person is undergoing trauma induced by electroshock, a feeling of light-headedness is evidenced; as if one is floating or fluttering like a butterfly. There is also a symbolic representation pertaining to the transformation or metamorphosis of this beautiful insect: from a caterpillar to a cocoon (dormancy, inactivity ), to a butterfly (new creation) which will return to its point of origin. Such is the migratory pattern that makes this species unique. Occultic symbolism may give additional insight into the true meaning. Psyche is the word for both “soul” and “butterfly” coming from the belief that human souls become butterflies while searching for a new reincarnation. Some ancient mystical groups, such as the Gnostics, saw the butterfly as a symbol of corrupt flesh. The “Angel of Death” (remember Mengele?) in Gnostic art works was portrayed crushing the butterfly. A marionette is a puppet that is attached to strings and is controlled by the puppet master, hence MONARCH programming is also referred to as the “Marionette Syndrome.” “Imperial Conditioning” is another term used, while some mental health therapists know it as “Conditioned Stimulus Response Sequences.” Project MONARCH could be best described as a form of structured dissociation and occultic integration, carried out in order to compartmentalize the mind into multiple personalities within a systematic framework. During this process, a Satanic ritual, usually including Cabalistic mysticism, is performed with the purpose of attaching a particular demon or group of demons to the corresponding alter(s). Of course, most skeptics would view this as simply a means to enhance trauma within the victim,  negating any irrational belief that demonic possession actually occurs.”

Alters and Triggers
Another way of examining this convoluted victimization of body and soul is by looking at it as a complex computer program: A file (alter) is created through trauma, repetition and reinforcement. In order to activate (trigger) the file, a specific access code or password (cue or command) is required. The victim/survivor is called a “slave” by the  programmer/handler, who in turn is perceived as “master” or “god.” About 75% are female, since they possess a higher tolerance for pain and tend to dissociate easier than males. Subjects are used mainly for cover operations, prostitution and p*********y; involvement in the entertainment industry is notable.  A former military officer connected to the DIA, told this writer, “In the ‘big picture’ these people [MONARCH victims] are in all walks of life, from the bum on the street to the white-collar guy”. In corroboration, a retired CIA agent vaguely discussed the use of such personnel to be used as “plants” or “chameleons” for the purpose of infiltrating a designated group, gathering information and/or injecting an ulterior agenda. There are an inordinate amount of alters in the victim/survivor with numerous back-up programs, mirrors and shadows. A division of light-side (good) and dark-side (bad) alters are interwoven in the mind and rotate on an axis. One of the main internal structures, (of which their are many) within the system is shaped like a double-helix, consisting of seven levels. Each system has an internal programmer which oversees the “gatekeeper” (demons?) who grant or deny entry into the different rooms. A few of the internal images predominately seen by victims/survivors are trees, the Cabalistic “Tree of Life,” with adjoining root systems, infinity loops, ancient symbols and letters, spider webs, mirrors or glass shattering, masks, castles, mazes, demons/monsters/aliens, sea shells, butterflies, snakes, ribbons, bows, flowers, hour glasses, clocks, robots, chain-of-command diagrams and/or schematics of computer circuitry boards. [My comment: this is an excerpt I’ve added, it’s not part of Vigilant Citizen’s article.]

OK, this heavy stuff but there are some important points to note which are directly related to “Sweet Dreams”:

1. Monarch treatment gives a feeling of “light-headeness, as if one is floating”
2. It engenders a new creation, an alternate personality
3. The victim sees his controller as “god”
4. Dark occult rituals are involved in the process
5. Symbols relating to Monarch programming involve mirrors, glass shattering, rainbows, robots and more.

I’m guessing that you’re starting to see where I’m going with this. All of these things are represented in Beyonce’s 4 minute video. How much can one honestly attribute to coincidence? The truth is: “Sweet Dreams” is a metaphor for mind control, Monarch Programming to be precise, and Beyonce sings from the point of view of the programmed slave.

Song Analysis

“Every night I rush to my bed With hopes that maybe I’ll get a chance to see you When I close my eyes I’m going out of my head Lost in a fairytale, can you hold my hands and be my guide?”

Beyonce is looking forward to “going out of her head” and getting “lost in a fairytale“. She is asking her controller to “hold her hand and be her guide“. The state of a mind controlled slave is often compared to a fairytale (they are said to be shown movies such as The Wizard of Oz). The controller will be her guide in the treatments.

“Clouds filled with stars cover the skies And I hope it rains, you’re the perfect lullaby What kinda dream is this?”

There is a real sense of a hazy state of mind. Beyonce says to her controller, who is causing in her this mental state, “you’re the perfect lullaby”.

“You could be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare Either way I don’t wanna wake up from you (Turn the lights on) Sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare Somebody pinch me, your love’s too good to be true (Turn the lights on)”

So this state of mind control can be a sweet dream, which is a blissful state where the boundaries between reality and fiction are blurred. It can also be a nightmare due to the traumatizing treatments, the mental anguish and the fact that being a Monarch slave is probably the worst thing that can happen to anyone.  Sweet dream/Beautiful Nightmare also describes the dichotomy between Beyonce and her dark alter-ego Sasha Fierce. As Patton stated in his discussion of mind control:

“A division of light-side (good) and dark-side (bad) alters are interwoven in the mind and rotate on an axis.” -Ibid.

“My guilty pleasure, I ain’t going no where Baby long as you’re here I’ll be floating on air”

“My guilty pleasure” refers to the fact that she knows that this state of synthetic bliss is false and ultimately harmful to her. But as long as her controller is there, she’ll be “floating on air”. This is especially significant when one knows that subjects of Monarch programming get a feeling of light-headeness, as if they’re floating.

“I mention you when I say my prayers I wrap you around all of my thoughts Boy you’re my temporary high”

There is here a mix of the “scientific” mind programming with the occult ritualistic aspect of it. The “controller” is often interchanged with Lucifer and “mind control” can be interchanged with spirit possession. As Ron Patton stated, ancient occult knowledge, rituals and magick are incorporated in the programming of the subject. The person sees the controller as a god, or Lucifer, who possesses his/her soul and thoughts. Beyonce says she mentions the name of her controller (or Lucifer) when she says her prayers.  She wraps her controller around all of her thoughts which is a nice way of saying that the possessor is in control of her thoughts.

“Tattoo your name across my heart so it will remain Not even death can make us part What kind of dream is this?”

She is basically saying that she gave her soul to her controller aka Lucifer. “Not even death can make us part“, conveys an obvious spiritual meaning. The only thing that remains of us after death is our soul. She says that even after death, her soul will still be owned by her possessor. As in all works of art, the lyrics could be interpreted in numerous ways. The video however confirms the mind control theme of the song by visually representing the steps, the symbols and even many “triggers” associated with Monarch programming.

Video Analysis

So what is the message of the video? Yes, I know Beyonce is “hawt”. Now that we got that out of the way, we can look past her hawtness…There’s way more to that video than hypnotic robot breasts. The video starts with Beyonce sleeping to a creepy lullaby tune. A dove appears and levitates Beyonce from her bed while the lullaby gets increasingly menacing. This scene ends with a scream of terror.

beyonce-sweet-dreams

In Christian symbolism, the dove represents the Holy Spirit. There’s however nothing “holy” about that scene. The scene is dark, the music is ominous, Beyonce is troubled and she gets lifted in what looks like a feat of black magick. To find the true meaning of that dove, one has to go into its occult meaning.

“Helena Blavatsky, an occultist, Luciferian, magician, Mason, and founder of the Theosophical Society, along with Masonic author Albert Pike, in their writings of this belief, that Lucifer is the holy spirit. Pike, referred to the Holy Ghost, when he wrote, “the body of the Holy Spirit, the universal Agent, [is] the Serpent…”

The Holy Spirit of Occult Orders, the liaison between the earth realm and the heavens, is Lucifer. This is graphically represented on the lamen of the Luciferian fraternity Ordo Templi Orientis.

Ordu Templi Orientis

Lamen [My comment: lamentation] of the O.T.O. Upside dove = Fall of Lucifer?

So in the first scene of the video, we see Lucifer lifting Beyonce from her bed and sending her to a kind of weird heaven. As stated above, the song is at the same time about Lucifer and Beyonce’s mind controller. So the dove also represents the controller making Beyonce feel light-headed from Monarch programming. Beyonce is sent into an “alternate world” with an omnipresent rainbow, a symbol associated with Monarch programming. We often see in the video multiple Beyonce’s colliding into one or the opposite, which represent her alters or minions. If you look closely at the backup dancers in one particular scene, they are literally broken in half, as if they are not activated.

beyonce-sweet-dreams-2

Notice the rainbow, the importance of the light source (Lucifer = god of Light)…And is this a pale horse running in the background?

In this symbolic scene, Beyonce is in a mirror room, not knowing who the “real Beyonce” is. This scene refers to the dissociative nature of mind control, not to mention that mirrors are an all-important symbol of Monarch Programming.

Mirror reflections symbolism

Mirror reflections symbolism

She then shatters a mirror and fragments fly all over the place, which represents the fragmentation and compartmentalization of her consciousness, an important prerequisite in order to create a new alternate personality in Monarch programming. Then it happens. The shiny new robot Beyonce, the new programmed alternate personality is born.

[My comment: Beyonce is a major proponent of transhumanism from the Metropolis (1927)film in her videos and performances] New controlled Beyonce trying in vain to get back the fragments of her consciousness

In Conclusion

Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” describes the blissful journey of a mind control subject towards its new persona. Even if that process is insanely painful and nightmarish, the subject is programmed to enjoy it, hence the phrase “either way, I don’t want to wake up from you“. Numerous symbols and mind control triggers are included in the video and, combined with the dissociative lyrics, the song leaves no doubt to those “in the know” of its occult meaning. Why are there allusions to Lucifer and mind control in the video and many others? What’s the purpose of it? Is it supposed to have an effect on the viewers? Are these types of videos megarituals acting on the subconscious of music fans? Are they preparing (programming) the new generation to accept those things as a reality? Those are questions I’m still attempting to answer. One thing is for sure: when one realizes that Beyonce’s incredible beauty and talent are used to promote such horrors, the video becomes indeed a “beautiful nightmare”.

ON THE FLIPSIDE INSTEAD OF “HUSH LITTLE BABY [DON’T YOU CRY]” (lullaby):

What happens when you make a real dream connection and it works? It works by itself – even without/continues without the tech/virtual reality/cgi and ‘others’? Better than an arranged match? And then arranged matches get in the way of the two people who found each other?

TODAY IS:

International STAND UP to Bullying Day takes place on February 24, 2017. This day is a special semi-annual event in which participants sign and wear a pink shirt to take a visible, public stance against bullying. The color of the shirts is based on a campaign started by Travis Price and David Shepherd, two students who took a stand for a fellow student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. International STAND UP to Bullying Day takes place in schools, workplaces, and organizations in 25 countries across the globe on the third Friday of November to coincide with Anti-bullying week, and then again on the last Friday of February. The day was first observed in February 2008. – With text from Wikipedia

AND (the dragon and the lady):

Dragobete is a traditional Romanian holiday observed on February 24, 2017. Baba Dochia also known as The Old Dokia is a spring related figure of Romanian myth and her son called Dragomir is honored and celebrated on Dragobete. It is the time to release mankind’s patience because they both stand for the return of the spring season each year and as a sign that people have overcome winter time.
Modern observations of Dragobete are comparable to St Valentine’s Day with various local customs in Romania in Southeast Europe. When birds start to become very lively again on Dragobete lovers have a day on their own to celebrate love and spring. The Romanian used to say “Dragobete kisses the girls” meaning that this is a perfect day to receive first kisses. – With text from Wikipedia.

Rosa Parks Day:
USA National Day but deserving of International Status:
Rosa Parks Day is observed on February 04, 2017. It is an American holiday celebrated on February 4 or December 1 in honor of the civil rights leader Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks Day was created by the California State Legislature and first celebrated February 4, 2000. The holiday was first designated in the U.S. state of Ohio championed by Joyce Beatty, advocate who helped Ohio’s legislation pass to honor the late leader. Rosa Parks, also known as “the first lady of civil rights” spurred the Montgomery boycott in 1955 as she refused to give up her seat in a bus to a white passenger. With text from Wikipedia.

AND

Create a Vacuum Day
There is something to do on February, 04 2017 as it is Create a Vacuum Day. It can be a real challenge to create a true vacuum and without technical equipment it is unmanageable on earth. A vacuum accrues with the total absence of any kind of material, including air. The origin of Create a Vacuum Day is not documented but the options to take part in it are numerous.

Everyone can live out or discover the joy of applied physics and meet to create a vacuum – all you need is power. Syringes or vacuum blowers can at least create a space very similar to a vacuum. The perfect vacuum, which is sadly out of reach for the most people is the universe, so if you are not able to create your own vacuum, take a look at the sky and imagine how it might feel like to feel absolutely weightless because there is truly nothing around. – With text from Wikipedia.

I was really disappointed with ‘Create a Vacuum Day’ since there’s no way I could make one – makeshift insulated rooms, electromagnetic shielding – faraday cages, carbon Black, insulating fabrics, frequency disrupter/layers/neutralizing, light/sound patterns etc are one thing but in competition with constantly improving tech what can you do? But then I thought of these:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anechoic_chamber

I hadn’t realized that they’re being updated to include all radio frequency/wi-fi/radiation – basically all invasion possible as well as blocking out just the stuff you don’t want and concentrate on the ones you do.

Just gimme one of these for a few months and I’m sure my body would heal completely but it’d probably take a year for my mind to probably heal. Most people can’t stand silence, real silence and I can understand that – because there is no silence, you hear your body at full blast – your heart beat from different points in your body, your blood moving, noises in your ears, your breath etc hence you have to shut your thoughts off to make it through. It’s only for those who like true solitude/comfortable with themselves – like those people who train in mediation/martial arts sitting under/near waterfalls with so much noise that it blocks the outside world and helps them concentrate. The rushing water/external noise allows them to practise blocking out such interference and focus on themselves. Stillness and silence = total rest.

10,000 Years Later, or Not

http://gbtimes.com/life/china-made-x-rated-animation-10000-years-later

Cinema is big business in China. Overall box office there racked up US $4.8 billion in 2014. That may be less than half of North America’s overall box office of US $10.35 billion during the same period, but still represented a rise of 36 percent from 2013. In North America, the numbers showed a 5 percent decline.

Among all the reasons behind the changes, ticket prices and viewing habits are quoted as two of the most significant. An average ticket costs RMB35 or US $5.6 in China, compared to US $10 in the US. An absolute majority of the cinema-goers in China are young people below 35, who reckon the activity as part of a nice day out. For those in the US, watching a film can take place at home whenever one wants via online providers such as Netflix.
Venture in the Void

There is also something quite remarkable about the top ten highest-grossing films in China last year. Five of them were US productions. “Transformers: Age of Extinction” came first by earning more than US $300 million. The runner-up, a home-made romcom, fell short by more than US $100 million. The other US films on the list were namely “Interstellar”, “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”. The one thing they have in common, besides the “Made in America” label, is plain to see: they are all sci-fi.

Indeed, for all the domestic cinema successes in China, that is one major element missing. Sci-fi and fantasy is a genre that Chinese fans cannot get enough of, but so far the country has yet to generate a credible offering. But that is about to change in 2015 with the release of “10,000 Years Later”, an animation about the dystopian world in 10 millennia from now.
X-rated?

The film has been seven years in the making, according to its official press release. It is described as a showcase of the “aesthetics of violence”, and therefore, is saddled with an adult-only certificate barring audience under 18. Just how effective the ban is remains to be seen, but the story itself is hardly X-rated.

It centers on a little girl from a Tibetan tribe. The world has become a desolate place after it lumbers on another 10,000 years. A dark force is growing to threaten the very existence of the earth. The girl realizes she holds the key to destroying this enemy and embarks on an adventure to save the world.

Sounds innocent enough. The fuss is solely due to images deemed violent and disturbing but are an essential part of the combat between good and evil, and due to the special effects which makes the film sci-fi. Some comments from the ever-discerning Chinese audience on seeing the trailers, however, are not encouraging.

But after all, they are connoisseurs of such US classics as “Transformers” when it comes to state-of-the-art SFX. One can only see for oneself how good or otherwise China’s first brave foray into the genre looks.

The film is scheduled for both domestic and international release this March [2015].

This is a strange film both in animation and storytelling. It was China’s first fully CGI film and it shows. The animation switches from dated to breathtaking constantly, from basic virtual reality/video game characters in both their styling and bulky movement to awesome beings and increased fluidity, contrasted with utterly superb landscapes and architecture. I didn’t find the musical score as noticeable and the sub-titles were enough to make me wary of the dubs which are often worse in my opinion. There’s more battle scenes and overly long to boot than action fans need, they ripped off Lord of the Rings big time plus Yoda from Star Wars and Cheetara from Thundercats made it in there. The characters don’t really get much dialogue, it’s basically one big fight and yet it’s compelling…

10,000 years after the Earth has gone through some kind of catastrophe human, humanoid and non-human tribes have formed, there are multi-cultural areas and wanderers too. A young girl from the Ballad (bard) tribe along with her faithful dog Warrior and blind grandfather travel through all the lands they can accumulating and spreading knowledge and soon that nomadic, well learned yet innocent spirit will come in helpful. A warlord has decided he’s going to acquire the ancient magic and bring back TechCity (the age we had before the catastrophe). Calling our science ancient was understandable given the future setting but it was surprising when the ancient magic spoke and said it was older than the gods, and unfortunately (perhaps the subbing) it seemed to say the period between it giving us fire to much more advanced knowledge was negligible e.g. 10,000 years ago we got both fire and Einstein’s equations. To a being/existence of such advanced age it could be a blink of an eye whilst being lost/forgotten for another 10,000 years felt much longer in comparison… Perhaps.

When the world as we knew it changed we lost all of the gods except two ‘gods of humanity’ left to watch over us. One invisible female whose voice we hear and power is shown through flower petals and a male stone giant; both are exquisitely portrayed but apart until the little girl reaches out to them. The goddess is in another ‘dimension’ and the god stiffened to statue his heart hardened but the girl is able to bridge both space and emotion even without knowing how.

The fights scenes take up most of the film; as well seeing the variety of strange species, the final battle shows that we caged animals, controlled food/veg by DNA, cash was king and even used fire people as cigarettes/lighters; the way in which the girl defeats the warlord is incomprehensible but beautiful.

Due to the violence the film’s age rating in China was 18 but exempting one bloody scene at the beginning it would likely be PG-certified here since it’s not very ‘realistic’ (well, the zebra guy proves to be quite the martial artist). Amidst the battling there are scenes of sadness and hints of humour that did move me but might seem superficial to others. It’s a strange mix of messages; being Chinese it’s not surprising that the warlord wanted to rebuild and spread TechCity in the West (though it was showed as the West of China) but at the same time it was promoting Tibet…

I don’t know which gods the two gods of humanity are supposed to represent from the Tibetan pantheon, if any, they could just represent the general idea of Tibetan Buddhist compassion and mercy. That said the perception of Buddhism has been skewed for… The whole time Eastern vogue spread again last century? A bit like people associating yoga with Sikhism and Western yoga teachers converting to it (especially those who learned kundalini from Yogi Bhajan) when Sikhism is only a few hundred years old and a streamlined form of Hinduism with bits of Islam. Yoga is one of the comprehensive life sciences predating Vedic/modern Hinduism but was incorporated… In regards to Tibet their native beliefs before Hinduism and Buddhism are hard to ascertain (as well as priests being very exclusive), Bon re-emerged with Buddhism and then being in the Himalayas all the areas attached to it hold the mountains as an earth home of the major gods, the area also being sacred to Jainism. Everybody likes to claim Mount Kailash/Kalisa in particular, well they would wouldn’t they. And some forms of Buddhism also shamelessly claiming the Taras are male. By the time Buddhism got to Tibet they already had numerous mother/goddesses but since the Hindu main males (Shiva – female name, Brahma – female name and concept, Vishnu – not female but he’s bisexual and at times turns into a woman, Indra – female name] have put their names over everything e.g. you have Shiv[a] claiming to be Kalachakra and Mahakala and to live in Kailash. If only his name hadn’t been retrospectively stuck on a weather god from Harrapan. It’s no wonder the popularity of the ‘thunderers’ (a mightier version of the ‘roar’) being the heads of the pantheons to follow e.g. Odin, Zeus, Thor, and the God of the old testament.

Whether they represent any of the known gods or not it’s interesting how the film claims the ancient gods died out/went away and so when they’re re-awaken for the fight you see the Tibetan rock god reaching out and working with the Greaco-Roman gods who claimed the last they were here they helped people… In one sense Tibetan Buddhism allows for this because it acknowledges bad enlightened beings or enlightened beings pretending to be bad in order to create moral dilemnas for people and push them to be better/enlightened, they basically admit to playing both sides. Akin to the Greaco-Roman gods playing games with people for entertainment, to alleviate their boredom. In that sense the misuse of the swastika by the Nazis kinds of works since the warlord is compared to Hitler (though worse) but at the same time it doesn’t appear that well thought out, the filmmakers had the Tibetans as the heroes yet forgot the importance of the swastika to them?

After the people and then the gods coming together we’re shown nature and culture joining the fight so we see elementals and figures manifesting from their environs such as water and paintings working together as if to say our whole culture will prevent/defeat TechCity but our culture included and brought about the technological age its highlighting. It’s awkward because we are tool orientated without modern technology but there’s a difference between using tools and needing them to the point of not being able to manage without. The film shows the popularized idea of intricate and dangerous ancient building mechanisms (it would have been more interesting had they shown ancient cultures had batteries, specs for flying machines and temple statues that floated via magnetism) but not why they dislike modern convenience tech e.g we have become dependent on it, weaker and less able in essential skills.

Ultimately it seemed to say don’t worry no matter what we do, over how long, even repeatedly – a Jesus/sacrificial figure[s] will try to help and then a goddess will come, save us and give us another chance. Hmm.

Japan tourists fingerprint purchases

So Japan is rolling out fingerprint identification technology for everyday purchases:

http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0002859676

The Yomiuri Shimbun
Starting this summer, the government will test a system in which foreign tourists will be able to verify their identities and buy things at stores using only their fingerprints.

The government hopes to increase the number of foreign tourists by using the system to prevent crime and relieve users from the necessity of carrying cash or credit cards. It aims to realize the system by the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The experiment will have inbound tourists register their fingerprints and other data, such as credit card information, at airports and elsewhere.

Tourists would then be able to conduct tax exemption procedures and make purchases after verifying their identities by placing two fingers on special devices installed at stores.

The Inns and Hotels Law requires foreign tourists to show their passports when they check into ryokan inns or hotels.

The government plans to substitute fingerprint authentication for that requirement.

A total of 300 souvenir shops, restaurants, hotels and other establishments will participate in the experiment. They are located in areas that are popular among foreign tourists such as Hakone, Kamakura, Yugawara in Kanagawa Prefecture, and Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The government plans to gradually expand the experiment by next spring, to cover areas including tourist sites in the Tohoku region and urban districts in Nagoya.

It hopes to realize the system throughout the country, including Tokyo, by 2020.

Introducing the system is part of the government’s efforts to increase the annual number of foreign tourists to 40 million by 2020.

It is also aiming to demonstrate the country’s advanced technology by having tourists use the system when they visit Japan for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

Data concerning how and where foreign tourists use the system will be managed by a consultative body led by the government, after the data is converted to anonymous big data.

After analyzing tourists’ movements and their spending habits, the data is expected to be utilized to devise policies on tourism and management strategies for the tourism industry.

However, there are concerns that tourists will be uneasy about providing personal information such as fingerprints.

The experiment will examine issues including how to protect one’s privacy and information management.

Attempts to put similar systems into practical use are under way at a bank and a theme park in Japan.

In October last year, the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, introduced on a trial basis a similar system in which visitors can make payments with just their fingerprints at about 30 stores and restaurants.

An official from the theme park said, “The system has been well received by customers, including those with children, since it saves them the trouble of taking their wallets out.”

By the end of this month at the earliest, Tokyo-based Aeon Bank will become the first bank in Japan to test a system in which customers will be able to withdraw cash from automatic teller machines using only fingerprints for identification and omitting the use of cash cards.

“The system is also superior in the area of security, such as preventing people from impersonating our customers,” an official from the bank said.

Japan tourists fingerprint purchases

Governments/corporations going to all the effort and cost of research, design, manufacture, advertising, widescale cooperation between companies and services for biometric devices just to save us the time it takes to take out our wallets? (Or remember a password, use an alarm clock etc…) Absolute surveillance is more like it. Ok cash has been in the process of being slowly phased out for ages, and alternate transitional paper currency like stamps (which are no longer currency) and cheques/traveller’s cheques have lost their popularity to plastic and digital currency but now you want the kind of info it’d take to open a bank account or get arrested just for a regular purchase? No thanks. Want DNA samples too? Yeah paper and plastic are not environmentally friendly but neither are computer servers. At least some countries (like Japan) still have some coins with holes in them – you can wear your change as a fashion accessory 😛

I remember when people used to be scared to give out their name, sort codes and account numbers (in the glory days of cheques and that is less info than that on a cheque) without knowing that people couldn’t take money out that way, only add to the account (as long as you didn’t give any other info) – a potential hacker could give them money rather than steal! That said in terms of identity fraud direct debits can be set up with that info but it’d be responsible just to tell people these things when they have an account, why develop and roll out technology like this and then expect to keep all that data safe from themselves and outsiders, especially when it’s going to be accessed commonly/regularly?

This new system reminds of me of China’s social credit system:

How China Plans to Blacklist Financially Unstable Citizens

It’s happening in the U.S., too.

China has a problem.

No, not Donald Trump trying to savage it any time he comes within three feet of a microphone. It’s that enormous social shifts in recent years—like the forcible relocation of 250 million people from rural areas to urban environments—have transformed the country, in the words of its Academy of Social Sciences, from “a society of acquaintances into a society of strangers.”

And these strangers, it turns out, don’t think much of each other. Social trust is at miserable levels, leading to a shaky business environment in which half of all written contracts are blatantly breached.

Since part of the problem is the lack of a credit reporting system, the government has decided to establish one. But instead of only considering people’s ability to repay loans, this system will rank people based on their trustworthiness using all sorts of data.

This might sound exactly like the kind of thing you’d expect from an authoritarian regime. And as someone who has pondered the ways in which privacy is squeezed by an ever-expanding surveillance state, I was intrigued by this unholy alliance between Big Data and Big Brother.

But what really surprised me was not just the outlandish lengths to which the Chinese government will go to evaluate its citizens. It was that its tactics were surprisingly close to what is already happening here, as banks look for ways to lend money to—and collect fees from—people with no traditional credit history.

But first let’s look at what the Chinese are doing.

The glories of trust-keeping

Using an enormous range of information, from traffic violations to consumer patterns to social networks, China intends to give every one of its 1.3 billion citizens a “social credit” score by 2020.

A recently translated summary of the plan explains that the goal is nothing less than raising “the sincerity and quality of the entire nation.” That, it says, should help address everything from workplace accidents to food safety failures to tax evasion and production of counterfeit goods (putting Canal Street, every New York woman’s go-to source for knockoff Chanel handbags, rather under a cloud).

The plan includes recommendations for establishing “civil servant sincerity dossiers,” something I’d like to see applied to my local DMV, lots of talk about “professional ethics, household virtue and individual morality,” and encouraging companies to conduct “client sincerity evaluations.”

I’m not sure what that means, but it conjures visions of online retailers diligently making entries like, “Disappointing customer. Returned item saying ‘It didn’t fit.’ Strongly suspect she’s lying about being a size 6.”

There’s also a large public relations component, with the use of news media to “forge a public opinion that trust-keeping is glorious” and a raft of proposed holidays, including “Sincere Trading Propaganda Week” and “Quality Month.”

The pains of trust-breaking

Before you start worrying about the caliber of the other 11 months of the year, you’ll be glad to hear that there’s also a strategy for enforcement. This includes informants, blacklists, and the rather chilling promise that “those breaking trust will meet with difficulty at every step.”

Interestingly, the government is letting private companies, like Alibaba ( BABA 1.16% ) , the e-commerce giant that made $1 billion in eight minutes the other day, take the lead in a series of pilot projects.

Alibaba’s finance arm, Sesame Credit, has been issuing customers with social credit scores based in part on their purchases and hobbies.

As Sesame’s technology director explained, someone who played hours of video games “would be considered an idle person,” so less creditworthy, while someone “who frequently buys diapers” is probably a parent, so “more likely to have a sense of responsibility.”

Suddenly that puts Nicolas Cage in Raising Arizona, running from the cops with a stocking mask over his head and a package of Huggies under his arm, in a whole new light.

Rank your friends!

Although it seems that someone’s score, rather shockingly, may rise and fall with the creditworthiness of their friends and relations, companies are focusing consumers on the positive.

Sesame has even launched a mobile phone game in which users can guess whether they have higher or lower scores than their friends. What could be more fun than seeing whether your friends are—literally—worth hanging out with?

This may all seem crazy, in ways both scary and silly. But before we get too smug about how it would be unthinkable here, consider the recent news about credit agencies “exploring new ways of assessing consumers’ ability to handle loans,” right here in the United States.

These include scouring “phone and utility bills, change-of-address records and information drawn from DVD clubs, and suppliers of rent-to-own furniture.” And that’s just the well-known companies like TransUnion and FICO.

Start-up credit agencies and banks, reports The Economist, go even further, “piecing together scores by analyzing applicants’ online social networks,” monitoring their Facebook ( FB 0.23% ) messages and determining whether they are spending prudently.

(Here we pause as I put down my phone, from which I was just about to order a gravy separator from Williams-Sonoma ( WSM -0.02% ), in case I needed to separate gravy sometime. Suddenly, it just didn’t seem—what’s the word?—prudent.)

The credit agencies say that they are responding to a demand by their customers—the banks, which are looking for new sources of revenue and hoping to find it in people who previously had no credit score.

Building a better citizen

So while we’re not subjected to a government effort to “build a better citizen,” as the Chinese are, we’re not doing much to prevent the private sector from conducting not-entirely-dissimilar data-mining investigations into millions of people too young, too poor, or too new to the country to have traditional credit scores.

Ever since Target ( TGT -1.01% ) started using data-mining to predict whether female customers were pregnant (which explains why I received a can of formula, seemingly out of the blue, right before I had my first child), scholars have warned us about the many ways the private sector can use predictive analytics to figure out who we are and what they can sell us.

But even if it’s good business, there’s something odd about collecting all these disparate pieces of information—traffic violations, bills paid and unpaid, staying friends with your ne’er-do-well elementary school classmate, having children, playing Call of Duty: Black Ops III—and assigning the whole mess a single numerical score.

Reducing all aspects of social and consumer life to a single unit of value seems to fundamentally misunderstand the complexity of human experience. Maybe remaining friends with a childhood buddy with a poor loan history does reflect on your own financial creditworthiness. But that friendship might also point to other things about you—your past, your loyalty, or your willingness to help those in need—that cannot be assigned a numeric value along the same spectrum as whether you paid your gas bill.

Maybe an authoritarian single-party state can’t be that concerned with the dignity and autonomy (let alone the privacy) of its citizens. But at least the Chinese plan has been publicly circulated. Its “you will be trustworthy—or else” message might be a little alarming, but it’s not like it keeps you guessing.

We can’t really say the same for our own shadowy system of credit ratings. And if the market requires it, how long will it be before we all get evaluated based on whether our purchases are of the “responsible adult” or “idle slacker” kind?

Better start stocking up on the Huggies.

The social credit system fits in with the ‘I have nothing to hide so you can know absolutely everything about me before I even know and may never understand even if it puts you [and me] to sleep’ philosophy of those who accept it and the ‘ha ha you moronic little tiny puny pathetic people-oids, you only exist for me to watch, use and exploit’ philosophy of those who see each other as commodities.

China In ‘Dangerous Love’ Foreign Spy Warning
Tuesday, 19th April 2016 10:24

China has launched a campaign to warn people of the dangers of trusting handsome foreigners who might have secret agendas.

Titled Dangerous Love, the posters, issued to mark the first ever National Security Education Day, tell the story of a young Chinese civil servant, called Little Li, who meets a red-headed man at a dinner party.

As “David” woos her with compliments, flowers and romantic walks in the park, Li fails to realise he is a foreign spy.

The cartoons depict a scenario where Li gives David secret internal documents from her government office before they are both arrested.

In the final image, Li is shown sitting handcuffed before two policemen who tell her she has a “shallow understanding of secrecy for a state employee”.

China’s state secrets law is notoriously broad, covering everything from industry data to the exact birth dates of state leaders.

Information can also be labelled a state secret retroactively.

President Xi Jinping has overseen a sweeping revamp of the security apparatus, aimed at combating threats both at home and abroad.

But new security laws he has passed, or wants to pass, have alarmed Western governments, including the counterterrorism law and a draft cyber security law, amid a renewed crackdown on dissent.

On Tuesday, a Chinese man was sentenced to death for leaking more than 150,000 classified documents to an unidentified foreign power.

The man, a computer technician from Sichuan named as Huang Yu, worked for a government department which handled state secrets, but he was a bad employee and was sacked, a report on state television said.

Filled with anger, he messaged a “foreign spy organisation” on the internet and offered to sell documents he had obtained while working for his former employer, who gladly took him up on his offer.

The report did not say when or if the execution had happened, or where he was tried.

The comments on that web page highlighted another (historical) poster:

American Propaganda poster against Japanese

I once saw a travel show documenting the exploration of Chinese culture by a UK celebrity (can’t remember who it was) in which was a segment about Caucasian men who work in China and purposely have Chinese girlfriends making them do humiliating things and ultimately thinking them golddiggers, even if they’ve been together long term. The main guy interviewed was also Red haired (natural Reds/Blondes being both exotic, unique and interesting to Asians, yet natural Reds maligned for quite some time in the West). I’d already learned that having local mistresses was common in many countries from empire/colonial and world war days but at that time I didn’t know it had continued to present day in China for migrant workers and xpats even if on a lesser scale. It added to generally being aware of the East Asian (Chinese sub-continent) female being the ‘no:1 exotic’ and people from some of those countries looking down on dark skin. Ask the US White males and Asian women you know and see how many of the former say they would like an East Asian girlfriend and how many of the Asian (anywhere from Asia) women say that Eastern Asian women are indeed the most desirable for both White and Asian (excluding Brown Muslims but including the Eastern Muslims) men. Whilst White people in the latter half of the 20th century onwards preferred/prefer to tan but there’s been a movement to re-appreciate the fair skinned and White women generally preferring darker men when attracted to the ‘exotic’. Then of course there’s the buy-a-bride trade. That doesn’t mean there aren’t women in the world who are looking for the ridiculous epitome of an ‘attractive man’ via his money, car, looks, flashiness etc and not all of them have sympathetic circumstances.

It’s ironic that governments dislike satire and political artists yet propaganda is the norm and apparently acceptable. Whilst this poster warns its citizens of business/state indiscretions it implies to us foreigners to dress dowdy and understated when visiting, since being good looking means we’re less trustworthy…

Did the world wars (and cold war) ever end? Anyone is capable of spying and gossip, it doesn’t help though when we get posters like the above or like those by the Met Police in 2009 (that for some reason are hard to find online unless hotlinked to their website) which implied people were better off because they reported neighbour’s trash and ‘strange activities’ including someone who was just looking at a CCTV camera. 🙄

People may be be better off looking up gang stalking and through-the-wall devices to be informed about spy/harassment/life invasion methods used to intimidate and control regular and ‘suspect’ people, and how easy it is to end up on a watch list.

Lastly here is an article about the crackdown on rich kids and vulgarity in reality tv:

China Cracks Down on Reality TV Kids, Live-stream Stars

China Cracks Down on Reality TV Kids, Live-stream Stars

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television (SAPPRFT), China’s top state media regulator, has issued new guidelines seeking to ban children from featuring in reality television programming. The new rules pay special attention to the children of established celebrity figures. The New York Times’ Amy Qin reports on the ban as the next step in official efforts to regulate China’s burgeoning online television industry:

The aim of the ban, said the state-run news agency, Xinhua, which first reported the guidelines on Sunday, is to protect the children from the pitfalls of “overnight fame.”

The regulations are the latest in the government’s continuing efforts to rein in the fast-growing online television industry. Last month, new rules issued by two industry associations, including one state-sanctioned organization, outlined a comprehensive policy that included a ban on depictions of gay relationships, underage romance, extramarital affairs, smoking, witchcraft and reincarnation.

[…] Some experts said the latest guidelines appeared to be aimed specifically at hugely popular shows like Hunan Television’s “Where Are We Going, Dad?” and Zhejiang Television’s “Dad Is Back,” both of which feature children of celebrities.

[…] Ma Xue, a Beijing-based reality television producer, said she thought the broadcast regulator issued the new guidelines “because they don’t want people to see differences between classes.”

“On these shows, if you are the child of a celebrity, then you become a celebrity by birth,” she continued.

“This could have a negative social impact,” she added. “You can’t have class differences starting from childhood.” […] [Source]

The posh lifestyles of celebrities have previously been targeted by central propaganda directives, and state media has warned against the “negative impact” that celebrity lifestyle can have on the masses. More from the AP on media regulators’ desire to limit programming that encourages fascination with lavish living:

It said reality show producers had been ordered to drop the “mistaken notion” that they should use well-known entertainers to attract viewers. “Do not permit shows to become venues for displaying fame and wealth,” the order quoted by Xinhua said.

[…] Chinese media regulators want to rein in programmes which they see as overly materialistic or encouraging the worship of celebrities who might compete with role models promoted by the ruling Communist party.

Viewers have increasingly turned to programming on more independent satellite television stations and the internet, where regulators have sought to impose stronger control over live streaming programmes usually featuring young women chatting, playing video games or simply going about their everyday tasks. [Source]

The South China Morning Post’s Ting Yan reports further on the growing popularity of streaming live programs, focusing on Papi Jiang (Papi酱), who has won online celebrity status—and a fat paycheck—through her live streams:

Jiang Yilei, her real name, lived a quiet life at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing a year ago, but now finds herself the mainland’s second best known web celebrity after Wang Sicong, the flamboyant son of China’s richest man, Wang Jianlin – according to the mainland’s IT industry flagship magazine Internet Weekly.

The arrival of social media in the mainland more than a decade ago and the increasing accessibility of the internet has allowed many ordinary young men and women to gain celebrity to massive audiences with their eye-catching opinions and comments.

Many are followed by millions of fans who are keen to catch whatever they do or say. Web celebrities often appear in newspapers or on television as conventional media has developed a fascination for them as well.

But compared to their counterparts years ago, the current crop of big name cyber celebrities are leveraging their fame to cash in, with the earnings on par with first-tier stars.

[…] Jiang is in such a position. After maintaining a steady following for months, she received 12 million yuan (HK$14.4 million) from domestic private equity firms last month. [Source]

SAPPRFT has reportedly set sights on Papi Jiang for her use of profanity, ordering her videos off of streaming sites until they are edited to accord with regulations. Newly-launched English-language state media outlet Sixth Tone reports:

According to a short news article by party newspaper People’s Daily, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), a government media supervision body, has told Papi Jiang to take her videos offline. The videos can be uploaded again when the coarse language has been removed and they adhere to regulations, the People’s Daily reported on its mobile app on Monday.

SAPPRFT decided to censor Papi Jiang “following reports from the public and evaluations by experts,” said the People’s Daily.

[…] Since Monday evening Papi Jiang’s videos were no longer available on Youku, her public WeChat account, and other websites, but could still be viewed on Weibo. Papi Jiang’s agent did not respond immediately to questions from Sixth Tone.

[…] In reaction to the news, Yang Ming, a business partner of Papi Jiang, told Sixth Tone’s sister publication The Paper that they “will continue to make videos in accordance with socialist core values.” [Source]

At The Beijinger, Tracy Wang translates Papi Jiang’s acceptance of the criticism from state censors, and notes last minute opportunities to view the profanity-laden videos before they disappear entirely:

Jiang, who has 11.2 million followers on Weibo and whose videos have been viewed 300 million times, posted this statement on her Weibo account:

“I’m a person who is open to criticism. Only those willing to accept criticism are able to correct their mistakes and head in a better direction. As a person in the media spotlight, I will pay closer attention to my language and my image, and will resolutely make amends to my videos according to requests, as well as attempt to deliver more positive energy in the future. If you have other issues with my work, I invite your further feedback on how Papi can get better and better.”

We checked several platforms, and there are only three Papi videos on Youku and only one video on Iqiyi. Her Weibo account appears to still be hosting some of the banned them, but god only knows when they will be scrubbed as well, so bone up on your Chinese foul language skills while the opportunity still lasts. [Source]

A few of her older videos have been uploaded to her YouTube channel, where they remain.

At Tech in Asia last week, C. Custer reported that all Chinese live-streaming platforms have become the subjects of a Ministry of Culture investigation for allowing models a venue to be “vulgar”:

The Ministry of Culture says that it has already dispatched investigators, and will publicly announce punishments once it has concluded investigations.

Live streaming is a fast-growing industry on China’s web. The most popular streamers tend to be professional gamers – a top Dota 2 or League of Legends pro can attract hundreds of thousands of viewers to a stream to watch them practice the game – but there are all kinds of other streams, too. Also popular are “lifestyle” streams, which tend to feature attractive women who talk and interact with their followers while wearing revealing outfits.

Still, cleavage isn’t a crime, and the games that are popularly streamed are all legal to play in China, so it’s not clear exactly what the Ministry of Culture is planning to crack down on here.

[…] If the Ministry of Culture punishes live streaming platforms, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see those platforms also adopt a set of similar measures [to major video provider that recently pledged to abide by a set of standards]. And punishment is essentially a guarantee; although technically the Ministry of Culture is still “investigating,” it would be a massive loss of face for the Ministry to allege wrongdoing on state TV and then ultimately find nothing. In all likelihood most of the investigation has already happened, and what remains now is figuring out how these sites should be punished. [Source]

Yes many children of rich people are privileged, that’s the point of being rich/successful – what parents rich or otherwise doesn’t want their children to be heir to their precious property/assets (if any) and have advantages [over others] in life? What to do about it? Take the rich and hence potentially more embarrassing out of the spotlight? (They are afterall ‘stars’ on the cosmic/divine Red carpet.) Hiding and pretending influential people don’t exist won’t prevent or stop anything e.g. class difference. That doesn’t mean [any] people should parade their children like a circus but in a spy/follower obsessed world we do need to know more about what the powerful/influential people are doing and how the ‘everyday person’ is involved but whilst we focus on gutter and paparazzi style media we don’t notice and even support the suppression, punishment and eradication of whistleblowers and victims (‘what makes them so special’ many ask ‘they’re full of themselves’ others say, ‘we love the dirt on public figures but finding out about corporate and security policy and implementation is a threat to national safety’ – if being a whistleblower or going through official complaints procedure – as opposed to ‘anonymous’ reporting – was an an enviable position to be in perhaps more people would volunteer for the role).

Yes females (including underage models selling older items) have traditionally been and are still used to sexualize consumer goods/services for promotion (and propaganda – sitting provocatively on a missile for example), there’s been a few high profile males in the West like the Milk Tray Man, the Diet Coke Guy, perfume and underwear models but they’re still tokens in comparison to the normalized used of the female body. It’s amazing how you see all these women with smooth, unblemished skin in these ads too – even in Dove’s (cosmetics) ‘real women’ campaigns (a photographer for which I knew showed raw images to as many male employees as he could at a different job whilst the female staff listened to their comments in humiliated discomfort), where were those representing the masses with scars and stretchmarks – why are they unattractive even less lovable whereas scars on a guy are battle trophies? Too bad the ‘ten a penny’, ‘dime a dozen’ ‘don’t be a prima donna thinking too much of yourself for wanting to be treated respectfully and not as a sex toy’ mentality prevails by both industry recruiters & technicians and consumers which ensures the exploitation of those in between regardless of their sex and gender.

I don’t particularly care about profanity as I try to listen to what people are saying both in substance and style but many get upset about it or the tone of delivery over the content – presentation is significant to people. Additionally I refuse to give up learning about the esoteric (including ‘witchcraft and reincarnation’ at the top of the article.) 😛

Who/What are the Blue beings, why are we inspired by them?

They seem to fit into two groups:

1) Actual Blue skinned people.
2) Humans or demi-humans (mixed breed with the gods, or ‘chosen people’) who symbolically wear Blue.

Number 1)
Let’s look at India, but first let me just say that out of all the symbolism and array of concepts including contrasting/duality one thing I ‘admire’ (in the way you respect something even if you don’t like it) about Asians in general is they don’t feel the need to hide that their gods aren’t always humanoid or human-like, they can look like anything, chimeras and even to what we’d consider monsters on looks alone. Whilst there has been change and sugar coating they don’t feel the need to make their gods always look like beautiful or benevolent humans for comfort and awe. These beings are awe inspiring enough and yet in such a multitude and so old that they’re normal.

In modern Hinduism there’s lots of Blue skin, even if it’s temporary. In old Hinduism (the roots upon which Hinduism came about and hence early Hinduism) you get Lalitha the Red, the Cosmic Mother. Bala the Daughter whose ‘colouring’ or colour association we’re not sure of. Then of course Kali, the Black one, no mistake there, she’s Black, the Dark Mother. In modern Hinduism you’ve gots masses of ‘gods’, ‘divinities’ and ‘demons’ – Kali has been kept, Lalitha hushed up, and Bala a rare sight sometimes confused with other modern goddesses. In Buddhism (a branch of early Hinduism) you get Tara – or the forms of Lalitha, and she comes in a number of colours including Red, White and Green. The later masculine form of Buddha also comes in a variety of colours including the popular Gold. When you see Lalitha statues in India, rare indeed, she comes in many colours too but ultimately Red is her symbolic colour (Red and Gold being the favourites of royalty and cultural lineage in China) and her age is perpetually that of a teen (15/16) and Bala a pre-pubescent child. However, strangely enough Kali (the ‘crone’) is now often depicted as fair skinned and even Blue.

Why is that? Well look at her current ‘peers’ or according to believers ‘Gods’, one of which is deemed her male creator and she’s a consort/part of. Look at the male ones in particular. The ultimate alpha male Shiv (whose stone, the black stone, the ‘shivling’ aka his penis is contested by many to be what the black stone is in Mecca and the symbolic ‘cornerstone’ of their ‘house/building/architecture’ aka religion) apparently drank poison once and he turned Blue. That doesn’t explain why he stayed Blue in popular culture after healing and why his bisexual ‘pretty boy’ brother Vishnu whom he has incestuous relations with (and who Krishna comes from) is also Blue… Unless it’s catching.

Bear in mind that modern Hinduism (and many religions and cultures) has a dominant serpent theme.

The change of Kali’s skin colour – which is just ridiculous given her very name means ‘Black’ and ‘Time’ (the original Mother Time) – could be due to the worldwide indoctrination that light and White skin was/is superior and even now in the aftermath of colonialism many Africans and Asians and to an extent South Americans still find fair/pale skin as more attractive, and female celebrities/public figures generally do better and faster if they’re light skinned. In some places such as Korea dark skin is equated with dirt and poverty and the media would have you believe that there aren’t masses of East Asian people with dark skin and curly or frizzy hair. There’s a heck of a lot of Black Indians too – whilst not necessarily Black in ethnicity, they certainly are or close to Ebony in colour. But hey if you’ve Blue or Hazel eyes and light skin your fame is practically assured. Kali’s Blue skin however is more symbolic or her inclusion and demotion in modern Hinduism.

Indian and Indian based gods, divinities and demons have a preponderance for turning into giants. Also bear in mind that current India is not old India, old India included Bangladesh and Pakistan and had direct link to the Indus Valley, and interesting things were happening culturally and religiously on the other side of the valley too in what we nowadays call the Middle East/Western Asian, the Mediterranean and North Africa. (It’s a shame that many people, including Africans who don’t live there or weren’t born there, think of Egypt as ‘the’ and even ‘the only’ African culture as if it’s their only history.)

From the alien/god point of view in these Indus based civilisations Blue is Earth’s symbolic colour, not hard to understand given how we’re conditioned to see Earth from the outside and the amount of water – that is assuming that these particular (but still many) types of aliens see water in the same part of the colour spectrum that we do, that is as Blue or perhaps they they decided on that colour after finding out that humans see it that way? (Remember different animals experience colour, sound and ‘physical’ dimensions differently on Earth and hey us humans see everything ‘upside down’ before the brain puts it all ‘right side up’ – mega quick reaction eh or maybe we’re slower thinkers than we realize.) Who knows. Either way some of the Asian group had or were depicted with Blue skin and their human/demi-human representatives and descendants adorned in Blue clothing. More on that later.
————–

If we look at modern popular culture i.e. mass media, there’s various Blue skinned beings from the Smurfs to the Nac Mac Feegle ‘Wee Free Men’ (seriously aggressive, kilt wearing, matriarchal, mini Blue guys in Terry Pratchett’s books). These beings tend to be associated with the ‘wee/fair folk’ or ‘woodland folk’ e.g. elves, fairies, pixies etc though so either Earth ‘spirits’ or workers of the gods (the gods in religions almost always being ‘from the stars’/alien). Avatar (2009) however was an interesting film and I note it’s mass emotional effect on people, it seemed to effect a lot of people profoundly and stir sympathy in many for native/indigenous people. Of course such a strong reaction had its opposite effect and you get people talking about White genocide though they’re the minority in the case of this film (though growing in the case against immigration and mixed race relations) – this mass outpouring of sympathy is strange given usual US war propaganda and older popularity of Westerns (film genre). Interestingly enough there is much anti-war and even anti-military sentiment in Black & White films/shows (though the anti-military stance I’ve seen is usually kept to comedy/satire.)

Avatar – remember I’ve explained the significance of this term before in my review about the film ‘Wizards’ (1977) but basically it’s a demi-being or person that’s become divine or closer to the divine and the term Christ is a title not a name, and can be applied to any such demi-being and many Asians think of Jesus the Christ as a an avatar of Krishna or a boddhisattva though interestingly enough his storyline is replica of the ‘Fallen Daughter’ root ‘mythology’ which was heavily incorporated in the early cultures of what we now call the Middle East/Western Asia, most obviously in the forms of Inanna/Ishtar. Cultures whom ironically fundamentalist Christians deem ‘demonic’ (without even realizing the difference between Lucifer and Satan and where those terms come from/what they mean/how they’re used and without acknowledging the roots of their own religion.)

An avatar is a kind of ‘mirror’, an image, representation – hence we use avatars/aliases/usernames/profile pics etc online – the internet itself being a virtual reality. That tied in well with the out of body experience, transference and cloning theme in the film Avatar – though largely ignored and thought a plot device to allow for the boy meets girl of opposite sides storyline. But what we did notice the most was giant Blue skinned people, who we associated with the term ‘Avatar’ thanks to the promotional artwork and them being the protagonists, rather than the fact that being moved from one body to another by an external party/person other than yourself, and possession via the use of mecha – embodying/wearing a machine – was the significance behind the term.

Similarly to the film ‘Wizards’, the people associated with the word ‘Avatar’ are a parallel/metaphor for native, old, original [Earth] peoples even though the word isn’t for them, these films have confused a form of alien life with Earth life and claiming sympathy/empathy from the people who they spawned. It’s very emotive because we know that when White peoples developed better technology other races suffered big time, though many conquered races/groups weren’t innocent themselves by any means. In North and South America – the ‘Red skins/Red Indians’ were mass murdered like a blood sport (nice use of colour eh – refer back to the significance of Red in Indo-China and reflect on why later Americans persisted on calling Native Americans by those terms plus the worldwide mother-goddess cultures pre-dating religion) and in the waves of conquering many who were kept alive were raped and bred to dilute the race and for the invaders to have an ‘authentic’ foothold on the land. Black people were transported to what we now call the US (remember the term ‘yank’/’yankie’ was not always a generic term for the US and there is still yank resentment still remains in places particularly those who got used to Black people being inferior). Many Africans died along the way, many babies thrown overboard on ships and those surviving enslaved.

So we have these two films that imply their avatars are native people, but in one those people are likened to the Jewish people who suffered at the hands of Hitler and in the other they’re big, Blue people. Blue people who prefer fighters over teachers (can’t you be a warrior aka both), have classism and sexism. And bond with serpents… I mean dragons… sorry, ‘flying reptiles/lizards’.

As for the military and corporate interests, they were thoroughly disgusting. It was a massively powerful and political film but I found the general ethos to be ‘win by playing all the sides’ i.e. the protagonist talking about peace when he knew the whole time and left it til the last second to say anything, and peace was impossible anyway – one group had already decided that they wanted what the other had, by hook or by crook they were going to get it and those people would have to be moved. That’s not peace, that’s envy and greed.

EDIT – What I really disliked about the OM-people (regardless of their Namaste style greeting) was the way they forced themselves on and in others, violating and conquering them and calling that friendship instead of forced loyalty. I did however like the portrayal of Eywa.

ANOTHER EDIT – 26 Nov 2016: Look at the insignia on the human military ‘helicopters’; it’s a picture of a dragon. The OM-people are very snake/reptile-like themselves with telepathy through their hair (remember the importance of snakes in worldwide ancient religion and cultures); I’ve heard about problems between different ‘reptilian’ races and given my dislike of the OM-people in ‘Avatar’ (whilst their plight is portrayed as similar to that of conquered native humans via modern human warfare) perhaps the film is showing such ‘reptoid’ enmity i.e. both the OM-people from Pandora and the human military represent reptilian war? Man/military controlled by ‘others’/’gods’/’demons’/’angels’?

The Blue People:

They’re very tall, telepathy, sacredness of the hair and the braiding/snake like quality of it (such as the ‘legend’ of Medusa being changed into a gorgon) used to conquer other animals, hunters/warriors, spiritual, importance of sacred trees and kundalini yoga.

The ‘human’ military:

To vie against the dinosaur like creatures the Blue People use (and remember they’re the Blue people aren’t the strongest species on the planet) the humans have flying machines instead of organic dragons. The Blue people have telepathy and the audience is shown that they use it whilst the conquered/spoken-to are at least conscious/awake but perhaps they can use it whilst the victim is unconscious/asleep too; the humans have astral projection, cloning and transhumanism (new limbs and mecha).

What are these species fighting over? Resources – a resource on/in Pandora (pan-dora meaning ‘[many] gift[s]/vision[s] of the god[s]’ and what do they achieve? Mixed-breeds. Remember that Jake was a twin (replacing his dead brother), a marine (water/Blue military) and in a wheelchair, so a human that isn’t good enough but with the ability who is then elevated to ‘godliness’ via cloning (another term for cloning being ‘twinning’) and possessing the body. He’s the ‘saviour’/Christ figure on PanDora i.e. Jesus based on the root culture Daughter (Eywa and the Blue People being portrayed as Mother Goddess people/followers/users), the Daughter being the link between the divine and the lesser (even cosmic and Earth/Blue) just like the story of Pandora being the first woman.
—————-

Number 2):

People and quite often females in Blue.

The most iconic woman in Blue is Mary, Mother of [a] Christ – beautiful Lapis Lazuli, Sapphire Blue. Some argue over whether she is divine herself or ‘just a human’ but regardless in the current storyline she was ‘chosen’, and easily classed as a ‘demi-being’ as a young teen, most likely with the onset of menstruation, to be married to an older man and then impregnated by an even older man aka ‘God’ for which she had no choice and if, as many would have us believe ‘she consented’ was under the duress i.e. made to believe it an ‘honour’, being obligated and ignorant/inexperienced in life. What a nice. innocent combo to take advantage of. What he and his fellows couldn’t just make a another human like they did in the Garden of Eden/Earth/laboratory with Lilith and Adam and then Adam and Eve? Or out of a plant – no that wouldn’t be right because this isn’t a ‘gift’ (babies from plants are a blessing), this is possession. Either way Mary wearing Blue is fitting, and in South and Eastern Asia at least her avatar son being Blue wouldn’t be a problem but the Blue skin didn’t quite pick up in Western and Eur-Asia (although the halo/glow was kept) where Christianity and Islam took off. Christianity even perverted the colour Red to mean bestial, prostitution/whoring whilst also keeping it for royalty and priesthood but with the degraded connotations and successful regime change there had to be something new – the fusion of the cosmic Red and earth Blue to make ‘royal’ Purple.

Some people see Mary (a name associated with water) as the World [Earth] card in the tarot and I can see why, particularly with the snake at her feet/foot and the position of the Earth (if drawn in the picture).

Iconic girls in Blue; Dorthy from the Oz stories and Alice from Wonderland books. Both stories notorious for symbolism, occultism, sleep hypnotism and subjects for posts in themselves. Both also featuring travel into another dimension and/or state of consciousness whilst being hunted by dangerous female figures, ‘helped’ by males who aren’t as they seem, some being obvious tricksters, and overseen in their ‘real’ lives by people who aren’t their parents (an aunt & uncle, and governess). L. Frank Baum was known for incorporating his beliefs and learnings into his stories which are more than the Oz series, for example ‘The Master Key’ and ‘Queen Zixi of Ix’ – he was far too learned in world culture and then his involvement with the Theosophical Society, it’d be superficial to dismiss his works as simple works of light hearted fiction. He’s not been recorded as a mason but the likelihood of involvement is there in his family given his parents success and estate. (For fans of Terry Pratchett’s ‘Hogfather’ – remember how Death took the place of Santa and through Death ultimate Santa was saved? – well checkout Baum’s ‘The Life and Adventure of Santa Claus’.) The same can be said of Lewis Carrol (a pen name) – his education, background, friends/associates – he knew too much to make it up, for his stories to have come solely from imagination.
———————-

On a sidenote – personally I don’t give a crap about skin colour, hair colour, eye colour or whatever except from a historical/cultural educational perspective. I don’t like the use of cultural connotations e.g. White = light, good, beautiful, ‘positive’. Black = dark, bad, dirty, poor, ugly, ‘negative’. Blue = boys. Pink = girls. Bluebloods = nobility, good (instead of ‘aristocracy, self serving slavers’). At the same time I acknowledge we have shared and steady reactions to various colours such as feeling warmer in Red/Orange/Brown rooms and cooler in Blue/Green rooms. It’d also be naive to think that people don’t take in and comprehend signs and symbols better than they do specific classification systems, lateral over literal. Colour isn’t always used for aesthetic value, or out of artistic need to differentiate ‘us’ and ‘them’; looking at our most pervasive cultural connotations and changes of i.e. in  religions, perhaps there’s more to it than meets the eye.
——————–

Watching La Planète Sauvage/Fantastic Planet (1973 – based on the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia) and the later Gandahar (1988) is something of an experience. In the former giant, Blue beings called Draags treat humans called Oms (a play on words from ‘hommes’) as we do other animals here and in the second, where the Blue beings along with pale skinned matrilineal beings and people they’ve genetically experimented on fight against metal men from a giant brain. All very surreal, disturbing and makes you wonder why we revere them when they’re not so dissimilar to ourselves. Or maybe it’s because we relate. Whilst I think the obvious messages to take away include thinking about what it would be like and how we would feel if we were treated ‘like any other animal’ by a species who take what we consider the human role in the hierarchy and the consequences of ‘playing god’ it’s worth noting that Blue people are generally seen as rulers, more perceptive/enlightened, technologically advanced with the ability to travel through space (in the case of Fantastic Planet – mentally travel and meet other species) and more spiritual (nowadays I figure that means extra-dimensional/extra-sensory rather than better/more ethical) yet they are still socially backwards.

2.5” SATA/IDE HDD Enclosure – If Only I Could Turn Back Time

Sorry for the Aqua song reference, but hey it was a pretty good song back in the day.

Speaking of back in the day this is a review for a nifty little kit that allows you to copy or retrieve files from a hard drive.

Ever deleted or ‘lost’ a file only to weep buckets, inconsolably and despair at the time/effort needed to start again? Or tried to recover a file from an empty Recycle Bin using some super duper software that maddeningly found obscure files from years ago but not the one(s) you want or other files from around the same time but still not the one(s) you want? *Sigh.*

Nowadays there’s lots of ways to backup data be it in various online forms to physical devices such as CDs, DVDs, pen drives and external hard drives but not everybody saves every file just in case they might need it let alone in multiple places. I knew a person who had three home computers with pretty much the same thing on each he claimed so he didn’t need to backup but you know bad things happen in threes or at least as the result of one horrid happening like a burglary.

Disclaimer – I’m going to use the acronym ‘hdd’ henceforth instead of ‘hard drive’ or ‘hard disk’ interchangeably. I’m not a techie (though would have liked to have been) so will describe this as best as possible to my knowledge/experience but bear in mind I tend to ignore trends and since I bought this in 2010/11 (I think) this review is probably best for those hanging onto old memories I mean hdds and as a basis for those who will use a newer model.

2.5" SATA IDE HDD USB Enclosure Caddy Review

2.5” SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 & SATA Aluminium Enclosure

That title may sound a little weird so to break it down a bit:

2.5” – is basically the depth size of the hdd that can fit in this. These are generally found in mobile devices like laptops and netbooks/notebooks but also in old satellite boxes. They generally have less capacity and less memory than their 3.5” counterparts in desktop computers but on the flipside use less energy and able to withstand more vibration damage. That said, there are higher quality models available that rival 3.5”s.

SATA/IDE – the type of hdd, so suitable for both those labelled SATA (or Serial ATA) and the older PATA (Parallel ATA) interfaces, IDE was the older acronym for PATA (pre-mass use of CD ROMS). Basically the difference is their look and the way they connect to their hdd. SATA cables are thinner, longer, more efficient and allow for a smaller overall hdd size whereas IDE cables are bulkier, shorter and have slower transfer rates. Yes, there are far too many acronyms for computer parts. Both types were used (for hdds and optical drives) for a while but PATA was phased out so it’s handy that you can access either in this kit (SATA I and II compatibility).

USB 2.0 – Presumably most of you reading this will know what a USB port is and where they are on your device (unless you’re using a phone that doesn’t have one but still you’ve probably come across them elsewhere). USB ports are smaller and faster at transferring info than the big, clunky (sometimes needing to be screwed in) connectors we used to have for most things from printers to the mouse and keyboard! This kit is backwards compatible for USB version 1.1 and the current standard 2.0, not the newer 3.0 versions.

Aluminium Enclosure – Also known as ‘caddies’, this is the box that your hdd will sit inside whilst you’re accessing it via another computer/laptop. It effectively turns a previously internal hdd into an external one. Aluminium is handy for heat dissipation.

What comes in the kit

Didn’t we just go through this? Almost…

2.5" SATA IDE HDD USB Enclosure Caddy Review

This kit is suitable for Windows 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP / Win7 / Linux & MAC OS 8.6 or above (go easy on the ‘above’; 8.6 was released in 1999. This kit is dated 2010 so at most probably goes up to MAC 10.6 as 10.7 came out late that year.)

The pieces you get are:

The housing – which comes in three parts; 1) the main outer body, 2) the inner circuit board/plate that your hdd will stick to and sit on, 3) the front panel that needs to be screwed into place to hold the whole thing together (i.e. ‘enclosure’) and connect the cable(s) to.

2.5" SATA IDE HDD USB Enclosure Caddy Review

USB cable 1 – This is splitter cable (Y-shape); mini-USB connector on one end to fit into the enclosure, two regular size connectors on the other end like a two-headed snake. One of which goes into your laptop/computer and the other can go into a third device if necessary. This cable provides both power for the enclosure to work and data transfer.

Alternative Connection:

USB cable 2 – It’s actually a power cord aka DC connector on one end and USB on the other. Connect the DC to the enclosure and the USB to the laptop/computer.

SATA cable – the Red one. SATA ports on both ends, connect one to the corresponding port on the enclosure and the other to the laptop/computer.

Other parts:

-Faux leather pouch
-Mini CD with installation drivers for old school Windows 98SE users. For everybody else plug’n’play.
-Packet of various small screws (though you only need two) and screw driver

Step by Step Directions

This is a very easy and straightforward kit to use, honestly!

Alright so you’ve salvaged your hdd from the death throes of whatever equipment it came from, maybe you faced too many dreaded ‘Blue Screens’, maybe your laptop was attacked by all the other crap in your bag, who knows but there’s something on it you need or you want to erase before giving to a geek to ‘fix’ or replace (whereby they’ll do what you could do with a kit like this and copy all your files before doing anything else, for a heftier price).

1. Carefully remove the front panel of the enclosure, otherwise since it’s not screwed in yet, is likely to just fall off and being lightweight could get damaged. Carefully take out the inner circuit board/plate, it’s metal, got sharp edges and slides out damned quickly.

2. Look at the pins on your hdd and the corresponding connector on the board/plate – make sure you’ve got the hdd the right way up. At an angle carefully slide your hdd onto the plate so that the connector on the board slots into the hdd properly. It should fit securely.

2.5" SATA IDE HDD USB Enclosure Caddy Review

3. Put the plate (with hdd) back into the housing, put the front panel back in place and tighten a screw into position on either side. Without the hdd the enclosure can seem pretty unstable but with the hdd inside its solid and apparently ‘shockproof’.

4. Using either the Y-splitter USB cable or the combination of the power and SATA cables, connect the enclosure to your laptop/computer.

5. Being a plug’n’play kit your comp should be able to detect it immediately (green LED lights up) and either give you a pop up to click or you can go to ‘My Computer’ and access it from there.

Depending on whether you’re using a new comp, old operating system or attempting a MAC & Windows hdd transfer you may need to partition/format it (check manual). But on a comp you already use and in a Windows to Windows or MAC to MAC transfer that shouldn’t be necessary.

You should just be able to click on/access the enclosure like you would any partition or optical (CD/DVD) drive you have (e.g. D and E drives) – just like when accessing a pen drive/dongle and transfer the same way with copy/paste/move/drag’n’drop (when transferring, the red LED lights up). So navigate to your enclosed old hdd, copy/move what you want onto the comp it’s connected to or directly onto another device if you’ve used the Y-splitter cable.

6. When you’ve finished and before disconnecting this, right click on the remove device icon as you do with some pen drives and other accessories.

Voila! See easy peasy… Unless…

Disadvantages

The only disadvantage I can really find with this, other than it not being the newest model, is that you might end up using expletives trying to get to the hdd you want to access in the first place. Obviously you mustn’t be afraid of opening your PC/MAC tower, laptop/netbook or whatever, then locating/dislocating your hdd (all relatively easy) but the casing of the hdd can be another matter. It can be much harder to remove and you have to remove it. The screw driver provided might be just right or it will fit but not be strong enough, or it won’t fit so you might need another. It’s generally better for mobile phone casing than some of the more stubborn hdd casings. Sometimes casing is sharpish to the touch, sometimes you’ve removed the screws only to find you still can’t separate the two and if you’re not careful it can actually bend! So you may need something to lever the hdd out. If you’re still under warranty/guarantee – get the nerdy buggers to do it instead for free. Though it’s not hard, like when you buy a new comp and they try to charge you for upgrading the memory/RAM when you can easily do it yourself as it slots into place, is fairly easily located and there’s a squillion tutorials online.

Also remember not to delete files from the enclosed hdd until you’re sure they’ve transferred/are saved properly in their new location (disconnect your pen drives properly!)

Conclusion

I bought this in 2010/11 from eBay so can’t remember the price but nowadays a 2.5” equivalent will cost approx under £10 (3.5” enclosures tend to be more).

I actually saw one in a second hand/reclaimed computing shop recently so it’s still around. It comes in Black or Silver.

Regarding transfer speeds, personally I never get the high speeds claimed on anything so whilst this says ‘480Mbps (USB 2.0) / 12Mbps (USB 1.1)’ and ‘3.0Gb/s (SATA II) / 1.5Gb/s (SATA I)’ I’ve gotten a lower amount hence longer time but it will vary anyway depending on how much you’re transferring and how big those files are so you may need a beverage/snacks handy if not a full course meal or perhaps you’re one of those really brave folk who leave a comp running something and actually come back to find it finished or still running nicely without needing your input or frozen altogether.

One other thing, I’ve never used this to try and boot a comp but if you’re using a readily functioning hdd in the enclosure with boot up files on it instead of a hdd you rescued and which may be corrupted in some way, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. It’s a potential alternative to booting with a CD/DVD/pen drive etc.

Unfortunately I can’t find the company information anymore, the 0871 phone number isn’t coming up on my search and the website just allows you to download drivers http://pluscom.cn/

Overall it can help restore peace of mind over previously thought of defunct hdd’s. It doesn’t need a mains adapter or expert knowledge to run, it’s portable and inexpensive. Also the manual is only one A4 sheet of paper! Granted in small print and double sided but it’s one of the best explained, translated instructions I’ve come across (except the bit that says ‘lather pouch’ when referring to the fabric – not leather – pouch but hey when buying certain fabrics from some parts of the world I’m aware the spelling or intention may be different e.g. when they say wool and its actually wool-blend, acrylic or felt or faux fur not actually being faux but that’s another story).
